In the Movie "The Ring"...

Can anyone answer this question: do you NOT die from the film if you make a copy and show the copy to another person?

Is that what the ending means?

1. If you make a copy and someone watches it then you live.
The Ring is actually based on the Japanese movie Ringu, which was based on a trilogy. Ringu is actually the second story. So I hope they make the prequel and sequel.

2. Thanks.
There was some general confusion about the ending. That's why she made the copy for her son, and now they have to show it to someone else (who will die, unless they make a copy and show it to someone else) to save the son.

Whew!

3. possibly the best way around the 7 day to death issue
from Mr. Cranky Rates the Movies:

"Now, this might be strictly a coincidence, but just about exactly the same thing happened to a friend of mine after watching the video for "Shining Through." A week later he was found dead in his apartment having choked on a piece of strudel. I guess this kind of thing scares some people, but me, I flip the spirit world my middle finger by watching the tape every day and thus, continually extend my life. Apparently, the spirit world has no concept of semantics."

I'm deathly afraid of that film. I started to watch it and had to turn it off 5 minutes after it started. This was in the middle of the day with lots of sunshine beaming through my window.

The second time I made it a whole half-hour and even made it through the part where she saw the movie. This was also in the middle of the day with lots of sunshine beaming through my window.

Yes, I figured that I could actually make it all the way through even though I was scared shitless.

And then my phone rang.

I had to turn off the movie after that.

That really sucks.

8. You can sit through it.
It seemed scarier than it turned out to be to me (but I remember laughing thru "The Exorcist").

It was better than many films I've seen. One good thing about it is, you think it will have a conventional Hollywood ending, but it does not end when you think it does.
