Despite having their presence littering the entire world in places including Great Britain and China, they lost money.

They LOST money?

For real?!

Cool!

Globalization doesn't always work!

That and/or people are finally realizing how their food is grossly unhealthy, and expensive. (tastes good, but I won't eat it! Neither would you if you knew what's in it!)

I wonder if Burger King, with their "fire grillin' where the flavor comes from fire, not fat" lie of a slogan has pulled in more of the sheeple? (fat is still in the food, heating it via a flame or a large flat frying pan makes little difference unless you dunk it in pure lard. If people think that a Whopper has only 6 grams of fat because it's fire grilled, they really are dumb!)

2. I know that they're making money in Germany
Unlike Burger King. You can hardly throw a brick without hitting a McDonalds. I eat there sometimes, as it's the one chain where one can be sure that the quality is OK (I've had bad experiences with Burger King).

5. Is it legal to throw bricks over there?
If it is, I'll happily move there! I'd love to throw bricks at McDonalds!

If I get caught, I'll just tell them that Ronald made me do it, Grimace grimaced, Hamburgler said he'd pay me $1,250 in hamburgers if I'd do it, and the Fry Guys and McNuggets just jumped up and down and chattered inanely... But Birdie wasn't around, she joined the Moonies - doesn't her expression say it all?

3. McDonald's has had some bad times.
Their expansion into the rest of the world hasn't been going well. They've also grossly overexpanded in the U.S., saturating their markets. McDonald's may be popular, but having two stores every block is excessive.

6. There's 10 McDonald's here in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.
An urbanized area population of 160,000 (185k in the "metro"). That's one McDonalds for every 16,000 people.

Hell, there's McDonald's in towns of 2,500 people here in North Dakota now.

4. Up until a few years ago, they and Coca Cola made a lot of $ in the east

As did Philip Morris.

The last two years have seen an increase in sales throughout the Middle East and Asia for Mecca Cola, Zam Zam Cola, and Galoise cigarettes. Galoise, I understand, has had to go to 24 hour shifts to keep up with demand.

And I am told it has never been a more auspicious time for a motivated entrepreneur to start a small sandwich or snack shop...
