Dog question- any experts or knowledgable people?
My dog just had puppies (2), now every time she gets near her daughter from a previous litter, she attacks the poor thing. I have had to pull her off at least three times today. She has drawn blood from this poor pooch! I have the pups and mother segregated inside the house, but I have to escort her outside each time she goes out to pee.

Why does she attack the younger dog? She will growl at the older male, but is mean to the young girl. Any ideas why?

1. Probably normal to drive offspring from previous litter when new one
born. Natural territorial thing, I would think.

2. If you can, just let mom and babies have their space for a while

If she is still doing it once the babies are up and around and eating from a dish instead of mom, then take her to a pet counselor, but in all probability once she starts pushing the babies over to the dish and away from HER when they get hungry, she will pick up her normal relationship with the older daughter as if nothing had happened.

4. Exactly
She should stop it once the pups stop nursing. If not, correct her; but in the meantime she gets to have her space. :)

6. I have that taken care of!
I decided I would keep the mom and pups in the bedroom with me- (they whine alot but I can deal with it) I am giving momma a lot of time alone with the pups- she even gets room service meals!

5. LOL - or leave me a lone, dammit, can't you see I'm BUSY?!?

on the deep psychological level, mom could have an irrational but blessedly temporary fear that older daughter has sibling rivalry and will try to nurse, thus taking food away from the new babies!
