I just saw Texas Chainsaw Masssacre and I got questions.
I say it's close to being better than the original but not quite. Does anybody know what really happened in Texas then? Where can I find the information? The only bullshit in the movie was that the incident happened in 1973. It couldn't of happened in 1973 because the movie 'Chiansaw' was based on the same true story as 'phsyco' and 'phsyco' was made in the 1960's(I think). I like this Leatherface better than the original because he took of his face and it was all...well I won't spoil it for you:) If anyone knows anything about the real massacre please tell me where to find it?

1. There was no real massacre
The story's loosely based on Ed Gein, who liked to make outfits out of the skin of his victims, and the people he dug up from a cemetary.

You beat me, Serpiente -- but I'll leave the link.

Here's a 'Crime Library' bio of Ed Gein:

Norman Bates and Buffalo Bill (from 'Silence of The Lambs') also may have been inspired by Ed Gein.

5. I recall listening to the radio...
way back in early 70's while onboard a Great Lake vessel and the weather cast was being delivered from some station deep in ohio/pennsylvania/northern new york or whatever...the weatherman was using a creepy bible preacher voice, complete with the crying earnestness made famous by Jimmy Swaggard! It was amazing...a weather report, and a cold breeze seemed to come in the porthole! (that last part i made up)
btw during a pulpmill strike back in late 60's in a Northern Ontario town, some truckers carrying logs to a striking mill confronted the strikers with chainsaws when some strikers went and grabbed their own for a 'canadian stand-off' (lotsa noise but no injuries)

6. Must read
I dont think any movie will do this Person? justice.
http://www.buy-books.us/605202.htm
Must read also see
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671644823/002-0442414-4482463?v=glance

Both are full of facts/ references that you wont find in any movie.I beleive the second one has more pictures and newspaper clippings than the other one but it has been a few years since i read the books.
Also stay away from the Ed Geins Documentary at Blockbuster/Hollywood video as its basically one hour of dramatisation and no interviews or fact/references basiclyy just a big puff pieces.
Anyways should be required reading for any horror/history fan.
