Poll question: The smiths vs T.A.T.U
I'm not sure if anyone remembers the smiths...but they did a song "How soon is now"...I believe it was in "Silence of the Lambs"...anyway...

for those who are familiar with it...which version do you like best...The Smiths original version or T.A.T.U.'s version...?

1. TATU
I loved the way he could scream "De Plane De Plane!"

Oh sorry, were you talkingabout the two pop singers with the hot videos?

2. LOL...
yea...I liked the original when it first came out...but as the years when by it got kind of stale...then when my roomate turned me on to T.A.T.U.'s version...It kind of sparked a new interest...

They do have some hot video's don't they...not afraid to show their affection for each other are they...!

3. That song has been re-done countless times.....
Some metal band called Paradise Lost did a version......Love Spit Love with Richard Butler of the Psych Furs did a version.....that band Soho sampled it heavily for that song Hippie Chick.

How can you even compare the Smiths version to TATU's is beyond me.

4. I wasn't trying to compare them...
I was just asking which version do you like better between the two...

The Hippie Chick song from soho was pretty cool when it came out...but it's a bit old now...can't sit through it anymore...

5. No Hippie Chick
Y'all might also remember that Johnny Marr's riff from "How Soon is Now?" was used as the loop for that song "Hippie Chick" a few years back (No Hippie Chick/ No Hippie Chick/ No hip-hip-hip-hip-hip...).

It is also the theme song to the TV show "Charmed," yes?

Now, certainly, the Smiths are much more than "How Soon is Now," and - while some might think Morrissey is an incredibly putrid depresso-meister - the songs are overall memorable (Now I know how Joan of Arc felt/ As the flames rose/ to her Roman nose/ and her Walkman started to meeeelt, oh-oh-oh).

Point being: The Smiths are an important part of music history, especially in Britain. T.A.T.U. is a flash in the pan.

"...I tried living in the real world/
Instead of a shell/
But before I began/
I was bored bvefore i even began/
Shoplifters of the World/
Unite and take over/
Shoplifters of the World/
Hand it over
Hand it over
Hand it over..."

(More brilliant lyrics from the Smiths)

6. I was into the smiths
in those days...my favorite was "meat is murder?"...if I remember correctly...

I just think that TATU's version is pretty good...brings back some memories of the old days...

7. I can't believe that this poll is neck and neck....
To even consider that pre-fabricated, psuedo-lesbian marketing gimmick as anything close to the Smiths is beyond me.
