F*** this!!!
Sorry folks but I'm in one shitty mood this morning.

Yesterday I went to a Burning Man Decompression party in Los Angeles and came to the realization that Burning Man has run it's course where I'm concerned.

This alledged "community" is anything but. Never have I been surrounded by a bigger bunch pretentious assholes since high school. For a group of people that stress individuality there's seems to be a awful lot of sheep. How individual can one be when everyone is wearing the same furry, day-glo clothing and adorned with el-wire and blinking lights?

People you've camped with in the past have no further use for you and are therefore greeted with blank stares. Oh, I'm not good enough for you assholes anymore? Well Fuuuuuucccccckkkkk Yoooooouuuuuu! :grr:

Okay fine, this next Burning Man I'm going to construct 'Camp Sheep,' specially dedicated to all those accountants, computer geeks and various other white collar gits who think walking around naked with your genitals painted fluorescent orange makes you "radically individual." Well guess what? You not! You're still fucking boring - so fuck you!:grr::mad:

Again, sorry for the rant but I really needed to get that off my chest.

1. Hey- I'm a computer geek and I'll have you know that my glowing
genitals *do* make me radically individual. It also really helps my effectiveness in powerpoint presentations.

2. Too many 'Trustafarians' at Burning Man for my taste
And I have to echo Cat Atomic's statement -- My day-glo genitals have gotten me more than one job promotion.

3. In all honesty....
...wasn't Burning Man pretty much over as soon as the coffee table book came out? Too bad I never got to see one when it was still 'cool'.

8. Glad you were brave enough to ask
I live in Cincinnati, so I'm sure this will be all the rage long about 2011!

5. Hope you feel better
I've never been to Burning Man (unfortunately) but it's been my experience that when weirdo gatherings become mainstream they start to get lame. When I saw a story about BM on the news, I sighed for the folks who've been involved in it for a long time. It's like the kiss of death.

Take ren faires for instance. I used to go to the big one up in Sterling Forest (Tuxedo, NY) every year and it was a blast. The last time I went was in '01 and boy it was depressing. Very few people were there in ren garb--they didn't even bother with those shitty rent-a-costumes. I saw a lot of yuppie "Sex & the City" type bitches there in tacky corsets and Prada shoes, because that was the year Moulin Rouge came out and corsets were the fad of the time. It was awful. The muggles have almost entirely taken it over. I don't even want to think about what it must be like now that Lord of the Rings has become mainstream and "cool". I'd imagine the same Edina Monsoon types are there in cheesy elf ears looking like something out of a bad Enya video. They're like the Borg.

Sorry to hear they've infiltrated Burning Man too.

6. yeah, it is pretty sickly these days
love the nickname. I directed a movie called "Devil Girls" some years back based on an Ed Wood pulp novel. I don't know whether remembering that is a good thing or a bad thing.

But anyway! Burning Man is soooooooo unspeakably goofy.
