Did you know that ladybugs bite?
I didn't until last night when one of them bit me on the chin. Our house has been overrun with lady bugs and while normally I draw a line at killing things, they went too far last night.
I'm tired of smashing them, I'm going to turn into a terrorist and off them with chemical warfare.

2. Those may not be ladybugs
my sister in Wisconsin has "Asian beetles" that look like ladybugs and bite. She uses her handi-vac on them.

3. Bad rap, Asian Impersonators to blame (I'd guess).
There's a new kind of insect pest from Asia, a little bit bigger than your old-fashioned, garden variety lady bug, that's probably to blame.

Lady bugs don't bite. These new pests do. I'm not sure of all the details, but I listened to an NPR feature the other day in the car, and this Asian variety is really, really hard to get rid of. It sounded like you'd better do some checking around, first, before you just start to blast away. They tend to hibernate, a lot, then become active when the weather warms up a little, even in the middle of winter.

4. not ladybugs
but asian beetles that were imported and bred here for use on factory farms. they got out of control and spread throughout the south and are now turning up as in the northeast .

they look like ladybugs, except they're light -brown or tan. if smashed, they put out quite an odor

One I smashed last night stunk to high heaven, these were an off color so I apologise to ladybugs everywhere.

16. Yep. They're swarming all around the NDSU football practice field now.
A co-worker friend and I were getting pads and equipment down to the Fargodome last week, when a whole bunch of them started swarming around our truck. I remembered an article I read a few days earlier about those Asian beetles, and started freaking out. My friend started laughing at me, cause he thought I was freaked out by ladybugs. I then explained to him that these were those look-alike buggers that bite.

6. Same here in the Detroit area
We had these bugs last year. Tons of 'em. They look like a big ladybug with a sort of rusty color as opposed to the brighter red of a ladybug.

The entire state of IL (where I live) has been overrun with them.
One got to me while I was sleeping. I thought it was just my brain playing tricks on me until I looked down and saw the thing. Really pissed me off! :)

The Asian Lady Beetles 'pinch' when they close their wings around their body, but don't actually 'bite'. :hi:

They're EVERYWHERE. Last night while eating dinner when I looked up and saw roughly 5934753459347593 of them crawling on my ceiling.
