4. No, not really....

....I don't really feel like an old fart. I just see THAT DAY coming closer and closer.

"THAT DAY" is the day I have to start chasing boys off the front porch. I'd better start taking classes now on the proper way to handle a shotgun.

on edit - I'd also say "chasing girls off the front porch", but other girls can't get my baby pregnant, so no need for the shotgun treatment for them. They're cool with me.

First birthday....yikes.

The good news is, you made it through the first year. It WILL get easier (as far as the constant care goes)

13. One of the sweetest memories of my teen years
Is a letter my father wrote to me on my 5th birthday, which he gave to me when I graduated prep school.

"5? -Are you really and truly 5?..."

Anything you feel a need to commit to paper about your little girl?

15. Maybe I should....
I will note right now that she is getting her first-ever viewing of "Titanic", and she is mesmerized.

It is important to note this, as this is the movie my wife and I went to see the night Charlotte was most likely conceived.

Say what you will about that film...it is a classic in my eyes. My wife and I both studied Titanic as teenagers. We were both drawn to it's tale, and when the movie was released, we spent an entire day seeing it constantly in the theatre. 4 viewings in the first day. We looked for as many errors in the ship as possible, and found only one (a door on the upper deck swung inward when in reality it should have swung outward).

We went to see it again a few weeks after it's release, and Charlotte was the result.

I was such a follower of the disaster that when they named Rose's room as B-52 and B-54, I was able to name who resided in those rooms on the actual journey.

19. My son is eight, and great.
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 11:09 PM by Finnfan
...but he's already starting to seperate form us, little by little. I'm no longer the center of his universe. :-(

Also, my nine-year-old niece is having trouble fitting into the princess outfit my wife made her for Halloween because shes starting to develop... :-(.

Thanks for reminding me that I'm getting older, AWD.

20. In 13 years, you can vote for Daddy!
In 16 years, you may drink a beer!

In twenty years, you could run for Congress, just like Daddy.

In 25 years, you could beat DeWine and Voinovich.

And just thirty years from now, you will attain to the age of 35 years, and you might run for President!

Social Security and Medicare are 62 years away, unless, of course, Daddy's Congressional colleagues say NO to them.

Hope to see you and Daddy in Congress!
