2. Yes, It's been a loooooongggg, drawn out struggle
on this particular issue, with several management changes, the suggestion of a scandal, and some irate people at the top of the corporate ladder.

Making the numbers work, - and not lying about them in the process, - turns out to be harder than a lot of people thought.

3. I recall my days slaving...when the boss only raised his voice a bit
it was an atta girl to me....BUT I know yours was very much more positive!

It ALWAYS feels good to be acknowledged for a GOOD JOB!!!

13. I was acknowledged...when I became independent they hired me as
a consultant...that was better than a raise...not of voice but of pay!!!

8. I spent an entire afternoon in the office recently
vowing I wouldn't go home until I knew why the departmental numbers were screwed. We should have been a tidy little profit-maker and instead we were in the shit-can 3 out of 4 weeks every month.

I'm no accountant, my degrees are in English Lit and Psychology. But, it's not rocket science and I left around 2 in the afternoon with a shortlist of issues and some suggestions on how we were going to deal with them. Then I got very proactive about dealing with those issues and formalising our new procedures.

15. Nah...
Not that this makes it impossible, but I'm not an 'at will' employee, I've got a big, fat, juicy contract. And right now, I'm actually saving the higher ups from butt-kickings they had long ago ceased looking forward to.

7. Congratulations!
Corporate stress and uncertainty is the worst. Especially if your boss is uncommunicative or hostile.

I've been under fire this year too, and am hopefully starting starting to turn things around.
