WHO was the mystery DUer driving 'round the Woodlands, TX, tonight?
:wow: A DUer in my 95% Republican town? No FUCKING way.

But yep, there was that sticker on the back of the late model Ford or Toyota van in front of me. I nearly drove off the road I was so in shock. I NEVER, EVER thought I'd see ANYONE with a DU sticker in this place.

And it was next to a Dean sticker and a Dean license plate cover. I don't even like Dean, but I thought it rocked.

And earlier that day, I saw another Dean sticker. How fucking cool is that?

Where are you, mystery DUer?

1. No Fenris, I'm not the DU person you saw
But I live in TW too. Personally, I don't feel safe enough around here as it is so no stickers are displayed on my vehicle. It sure is refreshing to know that we aren't alone. Any suggestions how we of the <5% can meet? At the Dem meeting on Nov 5?

"Progressive Democrats in Montgomery County are invited to attend an organizational meeting on Wednesday, November 5th from 7-8:30 at the Montgomery County Library Main Branch in Conroe 104 I-45 North. Stan Merriman, State Chair of Progressive/Populist caucus will lead the group in "getting out the vote." Please join us and invite a friend. For more information about either of these events, please call Tomi Phillips at 281-292-1652 or tomig@houston.rr.com."

3. Jesus, I didn't know there were other Democrats in this town
I have a DU sticker. I haven't had a problem. Of course, I live within the confines of the leisure fortress that is Alden Bridge (or thereabouts). I think if I stepped out onto 1488 I'd be run off of the road (which happens a lot, anyway). That meeting sounds interesting, and it's nice to know there are Democrats in Montgomery County.

9. Bookman, I suspected you are from Montgomery county
It was something you said here about book banning a while ago. Hope I didn't scare you off. Mainstream Montgomery County, a single issue group, did influence Commisioners Court to agree to run the county libraries under the general guidance of the ALA instead of a charter written by local fundies. A narrow win that.

A proposed meeting venue on Nov 5, is noted above in a response to Fenris. Hopefully, you can attend so we can meet each other and possibly do some ABB business. Hope to see you there.

14. Yes
I was involved with the anti-book banner movement. I'm a supporter of libraries and free speech.

I have a conflict on the 5th. Too bad I'd love to me some DU'ers. Sometimes I just feel alone. Heck I got strange looks when I bought Michael Moore's and Molly Ivin's books at Barnes and Noble.

Let's hope there's more of us than most people think.

15. It is me, allright!
That was me with the DU sticker as well as a Dean sticker and a new one for FreeSpeechTV. And I always thought people with lots of bumperstickers were kind of strange, yet here I am. Because all three are dear to my heart.

Silas Soule, thank you for sending me the note about this thread. I have been having some problems lately and haven't spent much time at all near my computer, but I decided to check in tonight when I heard something about the Grover Norquist/Guantanamo chaplin thing thats starting to come out, and see what DUers knew about it.

Yes, Fenris, bookman, and Wwagsthedog, I would love to meet you all too. And there is another DUer here too, Mithras61. And who knows how many more? In fact, I think we should all have a Woodlands DUer get together, because there are quite a few DUers in Houston as well.
