I would have to Scalia. In many ways Thomas is even worse, but Scalia gave Thomas a model to follow, so I vote for the original.

1. Justices
I personally do not know two any worse that Scalia. Although the little Anita Hill bashing worm is a close second.

2. Nomination: Judge Roger B.Taney who affirmed Dred Scott,
which case recognized that a particular human being can be the personal property of another human being, allowing sale and destruction of the property at will.

Second Nomination: Judge Oliver Wendell Holmes for the Bell v. Buck decision, allowing the government to decide which person is "inferior" as an "imbecile", thus allowing the government to take autonomy away from the individual and permit state-sponsored sterilization. This has yet to be reversed.

5. Have to Agree with Taney
There have been many bad justices. He's one of the most prominent.

One of the reasons for bullshit like granting first amendment rights to corporations is that in the 19th century, and to some extent up until FDR, justices were often buisness lawyers working for railroads or other large businesses.

Imagine Donald Trump's lawyer or the chief counsel of Phillip Morris being on the Supreme Court. That used to be pretty much the standard. That's why today's court isn't that disastrous by historical standards. Despite the attempts of Scalia, Rehnquist, and Thomas to turn the clock back, there's only limited room for movement.

3. Thomas (I think)

Yeah, it's a tough choice. In some ways, Scalia seems competent at least. He has a legal philosophy and sticks to it. A judge is supposed to be objective though and I just don't know enough about Scalia to make a judgement call about that. Within his legal philosophy is he objective? Overriding a state supreme court on a state matter doesn't seem to fit within his philosophy.

Anyway, Thomas seems so clearly out of his league. His nomination had so much more to do with politics than it did with credentials and capability. But maybe that's because the man NEVER says anything. My vote goes to Thomas.

4. Scalia is bad but Thomas adds all the badness along with the fact
that he is an Uncle Tom to the highest degree. I'm a Blackfeet Indian and all of us minorities have an unwritten rule to look out for each other. I was proud that a black man could go so far in his career. I am proud of all the accomplishments of my fellow minorities and support them with huge amounts of praise. When I was a columnist I specifically wrote about minority issues and as they pertained to all of us. Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, etc. I regard Thomas as a traitor. Big time. I hold contempt for his stances and his voting record. He capitalized on Affirmitive Action as much as anybody in history yet he tries to decline that nod of equal opportunity and diversity to all the others who are out there struggling. That uppity son of a .... has some nerve, I'll tell you that.
