Jon Stewart and Al Franken may just save our country from its ignorance.
The Daily Show is unbelievable. There is actual truth in the broadcast, and the show is incredibly fun to watch. He is the only one on television that can put anything into proper context.

Shame on the rest of the media. Stewart and Franken, who is an incredibly brave and patriotic American, have really taken a place on the stage of the political elite. The two very best of the left of center, realistic, thinking Americans. I would rather listen to them than most anything else.

Does anyone know if Franken has commented on the sucess of Stewart? A lot of powerful people have taken notice of Jon and show him respect accorded to a very few.

1. Props to David Letterman too
...for pointing out what a joke Arnold Schwarzenegger is:

In contrast to the "Tonight" show — Arnold Schwarzenegger's unofficial late-night venue — David Letterman is airing material that would make most politicians consider a career change.

Over the past week, Letterman's "Meet the Governor" segment has rolled old footage of the incoming California governor grasping a woman's buttocks, smoking marijuana and grinning goofily dressed in an Indian outfit.

2. Stewart seems to be getting
some recognition lately. You're right of course. Franken and Stewart are da bombs.

Yeah!
Like two Emmys. How often does a truly
great show, on cable yet, get even one
(er, like Buffy)?

3. Yeah, it's up to the comedians to speak the truth
The media and politicians sure won't do it.
How fucked up is that?

Jon Stewart is *the* man.
Franken is kicking ass lately.
The Simpsons, Matt Groening has been
chugging along for years expressing his point of
view, cloaked in a cartoon.

And that first episode of Whoopi sure was impressive...
I hope for more of the same.
I really appreciate the fact that she cast a middle
eastern man (Iranian?) as her sidekick. I'm so sick
of evil and ignorant 'Merkans using middle eastern
men as pissing posts. The boggie man du jour.

6. Conan! Good point!
He's a class act.
Genuinely funny, and honorable.

But he can't, or doesn't, do the hard
hitting stuff that Stewart does.
Granted his show format doesn't make
it as appropriate for him as it does
for Stewart.

Conan's the king of late night talk though.
By far the best of the bunch.
Didn't even break his stride after Andy left.
