Another unpaid day off
This is the third Friday that we have had off in the past two months do to low orders. Since I am paid by the hour, this does not make me happy. I have other reasons for wanting to leave my job, but this is getting to be the last straw. I believe that the primary owner is committed to staying in business since she spends most of her life there and lives a relatively fiscally conservative lifestyle for someone with a lot of money. Although we are still paying our bills alright, one days wages are a lot of money that I could use for something else.

1. If I could be so forward as to inquire?
What is the nature of the industry that you are not-on-friday's laboring in?

Merci.

3. Food manufacturer
I guess that costs are up. We make processed cheese. We buy barrel cheese for market price. We process it and sell to other companies based on market price. Those companies are not buying as much. Unfortunately, I haven't been paying much attention to grocery store prices where our product finally appears. We aren't the insurance industry. We cannot raise prices on the end product just because costs are up and expect people to purchase the same amount regardless.
The sad thing is that when we were less efficient, we probably wouldn't have had to worry about this. With our new facility and machines, we've increased production about 50% over the past two years. Now we aren't working some Fridays and have had some shorter days where as before most days exceeded 8 hours.

2. papa johns..
If you're strapped for cash, venture out into the rich areas of your city...with lots of rich neighborhoods, and get a job deliviering pizzas on weekends. I know someone who did this...averaged $16/hr
not bad at all!

4. I've thought about getting a part time job
If things don't pick up, I'll have to. If we don't work on Friday's, I could work all day there on Friday instead.
