Schickele Mix - who listens?
I love it! So much that I get up at 7 am on Sunday mornings to listen to it.

great show, and I've learned a fair amount. Sometimes the shows don't work at all for me (like the one about bees), but quite often, it's very enlightening, and always has some great humor.

I'd love to have him as a music professor.

2. Kickin' cuz it just came on

usually I listen on Sunday morning because my filth neighborhood is so loud on Saturday nights, that even with headphones, I can still hear the damn salsa from down the block. But tonight, oddly, they're pretty quiet, so I can listen.

Woo hoo!!

Talking about the tango

3. Love him
when in ABQ I listen.
In the late 60's had his Tootsie Roll Bach albums.
Even thought I will be laid off at the end of the month, I'm going back up to ABQ which seems like civilation compared to Roswell (which after Paris, ABQ is civilization, think how bad Roswell is. Too bad htere were no aliens, maybe they would be more civilized,)

5. He Actually Teaches Music Theory
I love it! And it's just the right level for me. I'm not a musician, but I like to understand what's going on under the hood when I listen to music.

He did a show on the pentatonic scale that showed that the same 5-tone scale used by ancient Chinese, African, and Celtic music can be found in classical music and even modern pop songs -- he used John Sebastian and Peggy Lee as examples.

PDQ Bach I could take or leave -- and his humor is not that great. But I love the show.

10. He's on a lot of internet radio stations at
various times during the week, so that's an option.

WNYC in New York, at http://www.wnyc.org, has him Saturday at 10 PM and Sunday at 7 am.

The Schickele website has other radio stations and times: http://www.schickele.com/

Or this fan site also lists internet broadcasts: http://jrabold.net/radio/

7. Why the hell...
did WNYC put him on at 7AM Sundays?

The car guys are on TWICE on Saturday. And now they got this other schmuck on after Keillor when I used to catch Shickele Mix.

I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

Schickele is one of the best things on radio, and the PDQ Bach Christmas concerts were the best part of the holidays.

(So, who's gonna make a ton of money with programmable recorders for radio?)

8. Can't edit that because of DST...
don't ask...

but I forgot Schickele's on at 10 on Sat. night. I'm usually not on around that time.

I still want a radio recorder.

9. I wish he could locate PDQ Bach's 2nd Violin Concerto...
which is a conglomerate of the most notorious 2nd violin licks in symphonic literature. :-)

What's not to love about Schickele?
SUCH a clever man!
