How 'bout them Tigers?
The LSU kind, that is. Go smoke this, Mr. Tuberville.

Should be a real corker between Ole Miss and LSU in a few weeks..possibly for the SEC West title.

1. I thought you were talking about our lovable losers in Detroit
Until they moved to their new Comerica Park digs, both LSU's football team and Detroit's baseball team played in their respective Tiger Stadiums. That's gone now, alas.
John
I don't think I know anyone in either Mississippi or Louisiana, but I hope it's a great game for all of you.
Central Michigan lost to Central Florida in the MAC today. The Chippewas are pretty crappy.

2. I wish the baseball Tigers would do well.
They've fallen on some serious hard times. Is Comerica Park the monstrosity I've heard it to be? A friend of mine who moved to Baton Rouge from Detroit says the place resembles a shopping mall with a baseball diamond in it.

3. I like Comerica Park

The critics bring up the fact that the park includes both a carousel and a small Ferris Wheel, but these are on the far side of the lower concourse and don't interfere with the ball game itself (though with the Tigers, that may not be a good thing).
The location is beautiful, right in the NE corner of downtown Detroit (across Brush Street from Ford Field and a block from the art deco masterpiece Fox Theater). During night games, as the sun sets and the lights of the downtown skyscrapers come on, it's (IMHO) one of the grandest cityscapes in the US. Concessions are good (get the Kosher hot dogs) and there are plenty of good bars and restaurants in the neighborhood for before and after the game.
Old Tiger Stadium was falling down around our ears. It was impossible to leave the bleachers to roam about the park (unlike Comerica) and it could take two innings to get a beer and a hot dog and get back to your seat. I miss the place, because I grew up watching Tiger baseball there (I'm 47 and saw my first game in 1968. Baltimore beat Detroit and Denny McLain 5-3). But Comerica beats The Corner hands down for comfort and convenience. No complaints here.
John
I went to seven games this year and the Tigers lost the first six of them. I'll probably go to another half-dozen or so next year.

5. Is the city going to tear down the old stadium?
I hear there's a move afoot to keep it as a historical landmark.

4. Hey, cheer up
As of right now, the Tigers are tied for first place in the 2004 season!

6. GEAUX TIGERS!
I'm still having trouble getting over that damned Florida game.
