Here's a debate question for the Lounge....

Can someone explain to me how all these candidates get it together to all be wearing the same suit every time they go in TV?

...And what kind of suit are we talking about here? Brooks Brothers? Armani? Or do they all just look the same these days?

Maybe the DNC provides a sheet that lists appropriate attire, or something....?

2. It's the uniform of American politics.

Navy suit, white shirt and maroon tie. As much a uniform as dress blues are for a Marine guard at an embassy. Same thing in England, with slightly different colors. Grey suit, blue shirt, blue tie. If you don't wear those items, you may as well not be in politics.

Be nice if one of them showed some style and some imagination once in a while.

reading the same books and articles on the subject, conducting the same studies, and giving the same advice. I'm willing to bet all of their outfits are well planned every day after they declared their candidacy.

4. It's like cars

all cars look the same these days. Unless it's a company like Daimler Chrysler that goes out of the way to do something wierd, you can't tell cars within breed apart.

My van looks identical to a zillion other vans in the parking lot. The only way I can tell it apart is by license plate or the parking thingie hanging from the mirror.

All four-door compacts look identical from little shitboxes to Mercedes and BMW's.

It's probably due to aerodynamics.

I think the suit is the same thing. There's probably an "electable" suit and they're all wearing it.

There's a set look that all the political advisors know a politician should have. Remember in 2000 when there were actual media reports of Gore's prefernce for "earth tones"? It's the age of targeted marketing, and politicians are no exception. They should wear gray or dark blue suit. Red tie. No facial hair. That's apparently what America wants.
