It's cold and rainy in Los Angeles basin
and that is good news for the persistent fires
and determined firefighters. Hope everyone is
back in their homes (if they still have homes)
by Sunday.

1. Good. It's cold, rainy, and snowy, here in far north CA.
Feels good. Fall has arrived. Weird weather. Two days ago, the temps broke all records, hitting 100, now we've got snow flurries. Go figure. Something feels very "out of balance" with ol' Mother Earth".

2. Is it cold and rainy in the San Bernardino Mountains?
I hope so, for the people in Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear.

:scared:

3. It's snowing on Mt. Wilson right now
I don't want to do the research but I think that's at
around the same height as San B mts.

4. LA Times answered my question
Mt Wilson is a long way from Lake Arrowhead et al, but a headline on the front page of the LA Times web site says "Fog and Drizzle Help Weary Crews Hold San Bernardino Blaze in Check".

So...

I used to live in Pasadena and always loved to awake and find snow on Mt Wilson. Quite a beautiful sight!

6. No fires in that area, right?
And the area near Mt Wilson burned pretty thoroughly in 1993. Is the fire danger high again 10 years later?

9. No, it takes more like 20 - 30 years for fire danger to return...
then you ask FEMA for help, they turn you down, everything burns.

8. Great news!
I hope these fires are controlled soon. This should help.

An aside: My husband just called and said there was snow/hail on the hill going towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Wow.
