So does anyone else watch Survivor?
What do you think of bringing the outcasts into the game?

2. No. Survivor is a Republican plot to erode community values
and promote 'every rat for himself' type consumerism.

3. The sadist in me loves it
I thought last night's twist was awesome. Really f*ed up the others.

On the other side of that coin, Osten is a loser. He should have never even applied to be on the show. Good riddance.

5. I bet you he wins...
His idiot teammates refuse to let him quit, he'll make it to the merge and realize he can win. I bet he makes it to the final 3.

6. He left last night.
Jeff made a big deal about him being the first Survivor to quit.

12. He's done
Only two of the six previous outcasts will be able to come back. Last night's evictee and quitter both go home, as will the four Outcasts that don't get voted back in.

anyone with 1/2 a brain even be interested after seeing the first one...after that it is just a repeat of the same. Like watching wrestling as if it were real??? Sorry cannot believe a moment is real?

7. Thanks
for insulting all the Survivor fans. Most of us have more than half a brain. I know mine is fully intact.

10. Mine too. I guess we liberals are only supposed to enjoy...
...opera and classical music and oscar winning documentaries and are sneered at by ivory tower intellectuals who think all entertainment must have some overriding social value.

I do enjoy many education programs, but I like watching Survivor. I get so fed up with people who think that enjoying mass entertainment is some kind of sin.

23. Someone once made an interesting point
I forget who...but anyway they said Survivor is not a reality show - but instead a Game show.

As far as game shows go, its fairly good. Look at it in that context and it's quite different.

As for me, I watched the second season, got into it, but don't watch anymore. I work nights :)

11. I would suggest that the more than half that is functioning leave that
program alone...since it is a brain deadening project...and your more than 1/2 a brain will diminish with each episode...

15. Honey to think 'Survivor' is a waste of brain power is in NO WAY
self righteous...you think not likeing wrestling is self righteous....is is a waste of time..and is presenting an agenda that is against all notions of social norms...that is that if you are unpopular there is some valid reason for you to just go away....I find it to be truly UN AMERICAN....sorry...my take on your show. I also have a right to voice my opinion and not be 'self righteous'...you seem 'self righteous' to call me that...

16. Yes it is.
"I don't like what you like so YOU'RE STUPID." That's what you're saying.

And when did I ever say anything about wrestling?

19. Opinion is fine...we both have one...like the sphincter between our
cheeks..so we can agree to disagree....I find Survivor and the rest of the 'reality' programs as foolish as watching grass grow...some people enjoy watching grass grow...who am I to argue with that?

I have no problem whatsoever with anybody not liking Survivor. I take issue when people tell me I'm stupid for liking Survivor.

24. you could disagree with the value of Survivor...
....but did you ever think that some of us every once in awhile enjoy a little brain candy like Survivor. I think if you started a thread and asked if there were any silly shows like Survivor that we enjoy watching I think you'd find we all have our own 'silly' show we enjoy.

I spend hours each week reading DU, reading progressive magazines like the Nation and Mother Jones, listening to progressive radio stations that I can find on the web, campaigning for progressive candidates, writing letters to the editor against Bush, attending protests and countless other things to progress our movement.

SO GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK IF ONCE A WEEK I DECIDE TO TAKE OFF MY DAMN THINKING CAP AND ENJOY A MINDLESS SHOW LIKE SURVIVOR.

You are welcome to disagree with the value of watching the show, but I find it very VERY offensive to say we have 'half a brain'. I think only those with 'half a brain' would be so rude to insult others brain capacity especially when we're suppose to be on the same team.

Sincerely

A damn smart girl, liberal and Suvivor fan

LynneSin

9. Ugh...no
:puke: :puke:

nothing personal, rose, but I am of the opinion that Reality TV, with it's "Farenheit 451"-like quality, is a precursor that we are finished evolving as a nation and the Downward Spiral has begun.

Of course, the Attempted Coup of 1998 and the Bloodless Coup of 2000 were also pretty strong indicators of this, as well..

20. I love....
...the Opera and the symphony...and I've probably read more of the classics than the average person. And...I love "Survivor" all seven of them. I find them to be excellent escapism from the real realities of life.

"Survivor" IS A GAME! No different than watching the Super Bowl or any other sport or game. There's nothing wrong with that and it certainly won't rot your brain. Now you naysayers may prefer watching an energetic game of chess...well...good for you! Five minutes of it would drive me crazy!

Now...back to the question...I don't know how I feel about the "Outcasts" yet. If they bring back Lil or Skinny Ryan...I will hate it! If it's that cute Burton and Michelle...I'll be okay with it.
