Trying to get AOL off of your computer is more of a problem then getting them to stop charging you. You have to take each individual file off of the computer. If you don't remove them they will still be on your computer until the day you junk it. I use to joke about writing a program that gets rid of AOHELL. If someone did that they would be an become a millionaire overnight. Cancel your card immediately and if you need suggestions on how to remove their service from your computer feel free to ask. Good luck.
Once you install AOHELL its a job making sure that all the files are off of your computer. They will latch in and when you go to download something or get on the internet you might notice that they are running in the background. AOHELL should be sued for locking into peoples computers and causing them grief when they are trying to remove their files. :argh:
You want to get rid of everything or "aohell" will pop back up on your computer. I heard that they have a "tracking device" that finds out what we buy over the internet and they sell the information to big companies.
Get the fax number and the address. You want to send AOHELL out a letter that is certified so that you have proof that they got it. Next step fax them and save a hard-copy for backup. After that go to your bank and tell them that you want the charges removed for the last 90 days that AOHELL has been billing you. You will have to write a letter to your banks legal department letting them know that AOHELL will not stop billing you. It works but you have to start tonight or in the morning or they will send you a bill to your house and right after that you will receive collection notices if you don't take the right steps.
AOHELL puts you through hell when you are trying to get rid of them. You have to make sure that you are never charged again. I would keep checking every month after they stop billing so that you don't miss something down the road.
they were billing me through the phone. I think it's easier to get rid of them because the phone bill is federally regulated. Credit cards are obviously not regulated much at all.
if you have confirmation letter from AOHell you might be able to prove to the bank you are being charged for a service or goods you have not received. But act quickly-they need something in writing within 60 days of something-either the bill or the charge. Also ask if they can block charges from AOHell. If they 'can't,' close the account.
I have heard horror stories about canceling AOHell. Hear it's damn near impossible. I want to cancel mine. I am not looking forward to the problems involve with it.
18. Threaten, don't get intimidated when they threaten (and they do),
and learn Indian. Their English varies from person to person and it can be a chore... never mind the cross-cultural issue; the last thing you want to accidentally do is to make a person in their position mad. They've got your numbers. :D
