Computer question...

If I click on a URL link from an email message (and I don't
have an IE window up), instead of an IE window launching and
taking me to the URL, an IE window comes up with "About: Blank"
as its address.

I am not being hijacked-- it's just that my settings, for
some reason, prohibit my accessing a URL through my email.
However, if I have an IE window already up, it will display
the URL.

Any ideas? It used to work.

I don't think you can send email from either directly the way you
can from IE.

But... I bow to your judgment.

Not the one you've described nor any other for that matter. IE, on the other hand I've had LOTS of problems with!

Get rid of it.

I know what spyware is-- I mean, what are you saying is spyware?

When I used IE, even with firewall, anti-spyware stuff and anti-virus, as well as having critical ports closed off and no shareware, I still had to reformat, check disk and repair disk often. Like every three months or so. I have been using Firefox for well over a year and Thunderbird for nearly a year (I never used Outlook; I have AOHell) and I think I have had to check disk once. Never been hijacked. No spam. No spyware. Only a few pop-under ads.

You just download Firefox, get used to it, and leave IE for updates. You'll wonder how you put up with IE so long.

As for your problem , try clearing your history and you cache, if you allow indiscriminate cookies, clear them too. Check your home page URL setting-it's all under Tools>Options.
