But... I have an idea. I think Skinner should separate GD and the Lounge into two separate forums, where you'd have to click on a separate link to reach either one, so people can choose which sort of environment they prefer when they visit DU.

Isn't that a great idea? It would solve the whole problem!

Democratic Underground was started and is essentially a political web site. And while I agree that some GD regulars might want to see what the Lounge is all about and introduce themselves....I don't think Skinner, EarlG and elad created DU just for the Lounge...you know?

I spend a lot of time in the GLBT forum. I rarely post, but I read a lot. And it fuckin' depresses me. And why is it the GLBT forum rather than the LGBT forum? We don't give a fuck about women?

I hang out here and post here because it doesn't depress me. Because I've met lots of interesting and wonderful and special people here.

Not trying to pick a fight with one of my most favouritest men - but it's got to be one of the other, and I don't think that it indicates not giving a f*** about women putting the G first.

I tend to put the L first - but that's only really habit, at university (where I first encountered the abbreviation) it was always L.G.B. (I would note that G.L.B. sounds far worse the L.G.B.); then part way through my course a T was added, by then I was used to starting with L. Does that mean that I don't give a f*** about men? surely not.

mostly in the lounge though. The discussions in GD sometimes get a little...intense. Every time I'm there, I read a post from someone that that just royally pisses me off. After a while of THAT, I gotta get away and come back to the lounge where people are more relaxed and friends are here to talk.

We Lizzards tend to be people who view the world with a dash of levity - this doesn't mean that we're less sincere, or less committed to our aims; but we can laugh at the same time as pursue them.

Somebody potters over to put a little toe into G.D. - posts something that they think is totally innocuous and gets a thousand responses hurled back accusing them of every possible evil under the sun.

For the record - I do venture out of here. I use the L.G.B.T. forum, the U.K., Religion, Catholic Group, and Classical Music Group (not that discussion goes very swiftly over there).

Because half of the time after you read something there you say out loud "God DAMN!!!!?!!?!?!"

I just thought everyone in the lounge was crazy and at some point everyone fits here perfectly. Besides I have tried to post things in GD they just keep putting them back in the lounge. "this post has been moved. click here to go to the original post".
