My dogs smells like death
Came home for lunch today and something smelled ... awful.

Finally traced it to one of the pups, ran for the dental bones!! Thought he might be dying.

But tonight, as I watched "Over There," we all snuggled and no one's breath was bad.

One went outside, came back in....

Oh. My. God.

I've never smelled anything so bad. Clearly there is something in the yard that MUST go!

Side note on smells:
I was out in the woods today looking for a fossil I saw on a geological map (long story), and smelled what reminded me of the mouse that died behind the fridge last year. Followed my nose to a dead deer, rotting fully. All that and at least a dozen pissed-off vultures (yes, vultures) circling and waiting for me to go away!

Lesson for today: dead deer smell just like dead mice after awhile, only more so.

4. I walk mine
until he is dry. By then he forgets that he smells good. It's an old trick and he falls for it every time.

5. Did you apologize to your dog?
Actually my dog just got skunked full-on in the face about a month ago. After 5,000 baths and every home remedy I could find, she is beginning to smell less awful, sort of like smelly socks now, which is a big improvement I'm sad to say.

10. Since she got in the face
I've been rather judicious around her eyes and other organs of value.
When she runs around and gets sweaty, she smells worse. Believe it or not in the middle of densely populated SF, we have wild bunnies and raccoons and, of course, the stinky critters. I was rather surprised. So when my dog gets all excited looking out the window, that's my cue to NOT let her out into the back yard. Live and learn.

11. Actually, you're not alone.
Many dogs' feet smell like Fritos.

I thought I was nuts for a while, but now I've heard others make the same observation.

Weird.
