Anybody have a Toshiba Satellite?
If so, which model? How do you like it? What are some of the strengths and shortfalls?

I would certainly appreciate any reply!

2. Had mine for two years
A20, I think.

I used to download and watch a lot of video files for my last job, and it was great.

No problems whatsoever.

5. they're indestructible
I have an S803 portable desktop (looks like a laptop on steroids) - detachable wireless keyboard & mouse, built in wifi, gig of ram, all the bells & whistles. Weighs a ton but I have dropped it, drop kicked it (accidentally), spilled coffee, beer and whiskey on it, let it bake in my car in Texas heat, taken it to every country on the planet, and basically run it 24/7 for the past two years, and it's a champ. The casing is cracked in one place from a bookslide (similar to a landslide) in my den, and the unit started overheating and shutting down for a while until I jammed a vacuum cleaner tube on the air intake, sucked out Andy Warhol's toupee, and it's purring like a fat happy cat again.

The batteries suck - I'm on my third one, and on my second power adapter (requires 19 volts, so the Juice multi-tip adapter won't work with it), but in general the "notebook" Toshiba is a robust, dependable product. If you do gaming be sure to get an appropriate video adapter, i.e., don't get the "business package".

7. It's purty but
it's refurbished.

Have you done a price feature comparison to a brand new non-Toshiba laptop with the same features? If you buy this for a 1000 bucks and it croaks in a year, or you spend 1200 bucks on a machine that will hold up for three years and comes with OEM Windows (or whatever you use), the extra 200 is definitely worth it.

I'd do a quick comparison online against similar builds on a new machine at Dell, Gateway, and through Best Buy or Computer City before committing. You have nothing to lose if you compare first.

8. I bought one in '97!
I'd still be using it if I hadn't spilled iced tea on the disc last year. I've had 2 in the last 12 years - one my boss purchased - one I purchased. I'll buy another Toshiba when I go back 2 a laptop.

10. Son and wife each have one
It's my sons only machine and he keeps it on 24/7 and had his harddrive fail after 2 years. It gave warnings so he was able to back it up and recover after getting it replaced. His is the P25, its big and heavy but a good desktop replacement.
I don't remember which model my wife has but she is very happy with it. I like the wide screen for taking it out on the porch to watch movies.
