3. Oh shit
I thought you were talking about Seattle. It's doing that wimpy snowing we get now and again. Hope it doesn't turn into one of those 2 day deals where everybody can't drive, and the whole city practically shuts down

5. Snowing here in Washington state also
I doubt it will amount to anything though. Still, it hasn't snowed this early in the season for several years. Cold winter coming? I hope not.

10. Just tiny little flakes here in south Seattle
But it's snowing pretty hard just north of downtown. Puget Sound is so weird when it comes to weather! Never the same in all areas across the board.

It's the big wet flakes right now. Hopefully it won't stick tonight.

14. Tell me about it.
I was stuck on the freeway during a heavy snowstorm a few years ago. I noticed that the cars in front of me in all three lanes had out of state license plates.

First thought - Oh shit, this could be ugly.

Sure enough...

Lane 1 - California - Bad

Lane 2 - Arizona - Worse

Lane 3 was up a little further, but I took my chances. Thank God the plate was from Alaska! Here's someone who knows what snow is.

Guess which lane I (and all the other drivers behind me) got in.

12. Snow is fine - it's the ice that will get you
The worst is when it rains, and then JUST crosses the 32 degree mark, and the road looks nice and normal and black -- what they call "black ice".

You haven't lived until you have spun out on black ice, watching the scenery rotate around your car (thank god it happened on a deserted stretch of road).

I may just have to skip having lived!

That sounds HORRIBLE!

I'm glad you were able to handle it.......:applause: :applause:

19. Have spent many hours on the 401 - you have yr own challenges!
Years ago I went to visit friends in L.A., and was so impressed by the roads (no potholes, really really well-signed compared to Philadelphia). Traffic was intense, even at 5am, but manageable

Recently, it seems the road repair has taken a nose dive, and traffic, if possible, seems even worse. How long are they going to be doing construction on Santa Monica Boulevard, anyway? It always looks like nothing is happening!

20. Yes, you are right, the 405 does give its own challenges.....
But I am used to them....and they don't involve icy pavements!

I don't know how long the construction will be going on Santa Monica Blvd......I rarely (thank God) use that street...

The traffic overall is worse, since more and more people are moving in from elsewhere.....

PLUS we have little mass transit to help ease the load on the roads...

I stay away from the freeways as much as possible!
