4. Oh, gee, rap. What artistry.
To quote from one of my newspaper columns from a while ago:

"...real sensitive guys, these rappers; their most romantic efforts usually end up being something like:
Muh ho
She mo ho
Than yo ho
Mo fo.

...with, of course, the standard rap background sound of a herd of cats being murdered by a piledriver outside your bedroom window at 3 AM."

6. Glad you like it. I find it surprising that any DUers would praise rappers
given the "ho" and "bitch" references that rappers seem so fond of.

7. You've obviously never listened to the great artistry that is the Chronic
This album has it all: love, hate, humor, etc.

8. Download "The Thing About It" by Sweatshop Union
Or "You Got Me" by The Roots
Or "Umi Says" by Mos Def
Or "Passin' Me By" by The Pharcyde
Or "No Regrets" by Aesop Rock
Or "Tired Out" by Buck 65
Or "Always Coming Back Home To You" by Atmosphere
Or "Mind Sex" by Dead Prez

And then realize that generalizations of any sort (even rap music) are pure ignorance.

14. please tell me that is a really old column....
about as fresh as that whole "heavy metal is only about satan worship, suicide, and neo-nazism" meme that became popular in the 80s....soooo 1991.....

10. There's plenty of excellent rap out there
As well as some crappy stuff too

I tend to gravitate to the better stuff

BTW: The Chronic is a classic

11. We actually listened to some Grand Master Flash
In African American literature last week

and what I meant by a some I really mean just "The Message" I'm not a huge rap fan . . . but that is probably on my favorite song lists.

I'm not huge on many genres, rap, country etc. but yet they both offer at times certain songs and artists I find quite enjoyable.

13. "Not to be confused with the bionic"....
"Even though it does cost 6 million dollars, man....understand"

Love it and still have it. I still listen to it too. Dre, Warren G., Nate Dog, Snoop, The DOC, Daz, Lady of Rage. There are a LOT of newcomers on that album that are famous now.

That album will live forever.

As for whether rap is a quality form of expression, that's for each person to decide, I guess. Some I really like. Some I can't stand. Check out Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Digital Underground, N.W.A, Public Enemy(You may have heard Chuck D on Air America)... There may be some that you like.
