I dreamed about my old apartment last night
no biggie -- except it was my old apartment in New Orleans. My old landlord (who would have to be about 80 by now) was apologizing for the damage on the first floor, until I reminded him my place was on the second floor, rear. So up I went, and there it was, empty, and with a new yellowish shag rug. Also it had an outdoor deck that had not been there in real life.

Could my Mom be right that I'm "obsessing" on N.O.? I keep telling her that, if I'm going to obsess on something, it might as well be that, but sheesh! This isn't the first one, either (once I caught a glimpse of one of my old feminist friends in a bath towel, on the other side of town from where she actually is)...

1. I always have dreams about tornadoes.
What the hell does that mean?

2. Oh cripes. There was an outdoor deck of sorts.
Covered, and narrow, more like a back porch, and certainly not with two twin beds on it as the dream one had, but nevertheless, there it was. I had forgotten about that.

When I say "my old apartment", I mean my old apartment. I "voluntarily evacuated" from it nearly fifteen years ago. Yet this keeps happening.

3. I often dream about a particular house I lived in as a kid.
I lived there from age 6 to age 15, so it isn't the only house I ever lived in, but I never dream about the others. I dream about it at least once a week, and there's always something subtly different about it each time.

It could be your mind's subconscious way of dealing about what happened in NO. I don't think you can interpret dreams specifically the same way for everyone, but I do think recurring themes mean we're working something out that we set aside when we're fully conscious.
