Check out this letter that someone posted on my local newspaper's website
It's in a response to a poll that asks "Should 'Intelligent Design' be taught in public schools along with evolution?":

Can P state one solid piece of scientific evidence to prove evolution. There is more scientific evidence to back intelliegent design, then the other way around. I would suggest people read a book called Evidence That Demands A Verdict. People are trying so hard to take Christianity out of America. If you go to the nations capital and look at most of the monuments there you will see references of Christianity all over the place. Even the doors of the Supreme court have image of Moses with the ten commandments on them. This country was founded based on Christianity.

I got my laugh for the morning. :)

1. Treaty of Tripoli . . .
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion" -Article 11, Treaty of Tripoli, signed into law by President John Adams

Pretty damn clear to me.

3. That image of Moses isn't on the door, it's on a frieze above the doors
in the back of the building. Moses is portrayed not in any religious sense, but in the context of a lawgiver. He is accompaniedin that frieze by Confucious and many others. Hell, even the artist who designed the frieze described it as "Law as an element of civilization was normally and naturally derived or inherited in this country from former civilizations. The "Eastern Pediment" of the Supreme Court Building suggests therefore the treatment of such fundamental laws and precepts as are derived from the East. Moses, Confucius and Solon are chosen as representing three great civilizations and form the central group of this Pediment."

4. Maybe "P" can cite one piece of evidence to prove that the
sun doesn't revolve around the Earth while he/she is at it too.
