1. Yes
Adopted within the family--my biological mother was my "aunt" all my life. I found out accidently when I was 11. I kept it secret that I knew until I was 18. Hard secret to keep through those chaotic years, huh?

2. I am. Story follows:
:hi: Adopted at 3 months out of foster care in San Francisco. I was born July of '68 and was relinquished at 4 weeks of age and placed 2 months later. I haven't reconnected with either birthparent. I'm registered with ISRR and the California Mutual Consent Registry...I guess she has her own reasons for not registering.

16. she might not know about it...
I registed with one 6 months before I found my birth mother through other means. She hadn't registered. It turned out that she really wanted to be found but wasn't aware of the registry.

4. Adoptive Mom here
I have an absolutely wonderful 14 yr old son. We got custody of him at 3 weeks and the adoption was finalized 6 months later.

6. I'm a birthmom
My son was surrendered to adoption when he was 8 days old. I think of him every day, even 27 years later.

9. Yes, it's a long story
But basically, I've been 'silently rejected' after trying to communicate with him and his adoptive parents for the past 14 years.

You can read my story at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/2991/marybb.html

7. No, but my lover was
He was the illegitimate child of a young girl from a very wealthy family. So, of course, it had to be covered up. He was adopted by very loving parents.

He knows the whole truth and has for years. He has no interest in meeting his birth parents. The people who raised him and loved him are his real parents. I agree but I think I'd be curious.

Khash.

10. yes....
Half-way, anyway.

My biomother raised me, but my biofather died before I was born. My mother married when I was a few months old, and he adopted me. (He was best friends with my biofather... very strange situation that I don't really want too many details on... hey, it was the 70s....)

I have some contact with my biofather's family, but not a lot. They, however, are responsible for my childhood Catholicism.

12. There are a number of adoptions in my family.
Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 01:16 AM by bushwentawol
My Mom and her brother were both adopted. Mom had been searching for her birth parents for a long time. She worked a number of years with a state senator to open the adoption records in Iowa from 1940 and earlier. When they finally allowed her access to the records she found her biological family and they're all very nice. They welcomed us with open arms.

14. me
Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 01:51 AM by HereKittyKitty
I was adopted at the age of 28 days. They had to keep me in the hospital that long because I had fevers or something.

My birthmother was 15 and I met her when I was 24. We were like sisters until she died 2 years later rather unexpectedly.
