Brad Pitt is seeking to adopt Angelina Jolie's children. How cute is that?
"LOS ANGELES - Brad Pitt is seeking to become the adoptive father of Angelina Jolie's children, the actor's publicist announced Friday.

A legal petition seeking to change the names of the children to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt was filed Friday in Los Angeles, publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a written statement to The Associated Press."

That is *too* precious. In a good way. I think I'm a sucker for men who care about children.

2. I suppose it's cute in a way
But I don't understand why all these celebrities seem to feel a need to leap headlong into commitments without giving them any time to see how they're going to work out. It's nice now but if the relationship doesn't work out in the long run, it means there's two kids to fight over. What's the big hurry for these people?

3. I'm not a fan of time, too much.
I don't think a relationship is more valid if you wait years to commit, or if you commit right away.

Marriages fall apart for all different reasons. I mean, I know people who dated for 5 years, got married, got divorced. I also know people who got married a week after they met, still married.

I don't know these two obviously, but they seem like a very, very good fit. And he's not 19, so adopting these kids is pretty indicative of his level of commitment to the relationship.

4. Time is relative to a lot of things
I think it's certainly more of a factor when you've only recently gotten out of another long term relationship which is the case with Mr. Pitt. When there are kids involved, I think a little extra caution is not amiss. There's more at stake than just the couple themselves.

I don't pretend to know the minds of anyone and it may happen that it works out swimmingly for all. I just don't understand the need to rush things, particularly in that kind of potential rebound situation.
