47. I don't think it's Mars...

I have noticed that object for last few nights too. It is quite bright and I suspect CP may be right about it being Venus. I have seen Mars out at this time....I think it may be spotted by looking just a bit south of east and closer to the horizon than that object. It is still a dull orangey red in color. I tried looking for it just now for confirmation but clouds are messing this up for me.

BTW: These are gorgeous CaliforniaPeggy. I like the windsurfer best myself.

I do get the monthly publication, the Griffith Observer..I could always look up what this bright object is!

ANY cloud cover at all would have covered up that little gorgeous crescent moon, and spoiled any chances I might have had of getting a pic of it.....

But as you can see, there wasn't a cloud in the sky......yippee!

All I was thinking about was to try and get some decent shots of the new moon along with the ocean....

I knew it would be difficult, and it was, a little. But since I was able to stay well past sunset, the contrast of the moon in the sky grew more pronounced, and that contrast enabled me to get these shots...

Yes, I am using digital exclusively now.....these are from my new Nikon D50.....I LOVE it!

Taking pictures like these puts me in touch with God, or something like that.....for me, photography is a spiritual exercise, as well as a way to find beauty......

Those two seem to get the most responses.....

But you should have been out there when I was.....

It was far from peaceful.....the wind was howling and I was very glad for my warm jacket!

The birds were having trouble staying aloft too.....

None of the wind turbulence shows in the pics, of course....
