Name something positive about your life!
 I'm sick of even my own negativity.

I bring happiness to the world via my art and my humor.

I am of value.

And I will not be beaten. I will simply not be beaten! By depression caused via prevailing circumstances or anything else.

2. I'm beaten.
My major depression has taken over.

I seriously don't think I have any worth to anything...but I'm not in danger to myself, so no need to worry.

6. What makes you say that?
I felt the same was as you.

Maybe the end for us all is near. I dunno.

But it took somebody else to tell me that alternative ventures using untapped creative resources do exist.

Something is ALWAYS there.

For example, do you have coworkers, past or present, that you click with? They might have ideas. What are your interests and your likes? Big business controls this country but even they depend on the ~75% of the nation who operate small businesses to keep this economy going.

PM me, tell me anything. There is always a way and it is never too late. (I know that sounds sickeningly smurfy but it is true.)

11. I can see the sun
I can smell the air. I can hear the birds.

I spent more than 30 years locked in the dungeon of depression. I had some days that were better than others but for the most part, the best I could say was that I was not UN happy. That in itself was depressing.

When I was 38, I took a solitary road trip from Vermont to California and on the road, with a lot of time to think, I picked over my life, buried many demons, dusted off memories and set them aside - everything that's happened in my life is a part of me but I discovered it didn't have to control me.

And I saw the sunshine for the first time in more than 30 years.

I still have bad days but now I know that tomorrow can be better. For the longest time, I didn't know that. I'm so grateful I held out because I came close a couple of times to saying sayonara to all of it. It's not easy but I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful to be alive.

Yes, you ARE of value. And don't ever forget it.

27. Astrologically speaking, it is basically clear sailing for me until 2008.
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 09:20 PM by BlueIris
Seriously. I just received the most positive astrological forecast I have ever gotten--including the news that what's coming could include the happiest, most meaningful times in my entire life cycle. Yeah, sure, there could be some surprises, but they are all in the name of personal, positive growth. Phew!

No offense, everyone else, but this makes me the most selfishly happy I've been in a long time because the astrology for much of the rest of the collective world in the next two years specifically? Sucks ass. Sorry, kids. I know that sounds harsh, but--I am in the Lounge.

Also, Hypno? Normally, I don't feel the need to offer help and free advice to those as obviously self-contained as you are, but--are you getting enough B-12? B-12 (not just a daily B-Complex tablet) has recently been essential to lifting me out of a moderate depression. Stock up!

28. The fact that it's actually pretty close to how I envisioned it would be
when I was growing up...some details are different -- the city, the fact that I'll be in law school at 30 instead of long done, the fact that the toddler who I danced around the living room with this morning isn't mine -- but the big picture's there.

I realized that this morning. It was kind of neat.

30. Pretty much everything, actually.
That's why I don't let the chronic pain or MS get me down; I have my own (very successful) business, a great family, and still have all my hair though in my fifties, and it's still black.

(Yes, I know that last one is vain, but what the hell.)

But there have been PLENTY of times in the past when most aspects fo my life were pretty crappy. Fortunately, I was a musician (until 8 years ago), so there was always that to run to.

PS: Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. If you really are clinically depressed, go to a doctor and get some treatment NOW. YOU can't fix brain chemistry by yourself.

32. Dr. DemoTex
My wife and best friend of 30+ years. Smarter than a tree full of owls. National Academy of the Sciences. Past president of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists. American Psychological Association board member (DIV 14). Graduate Curriculum Advisory Committee at Georgia Tech. Senior partner and section president of a multi-million dollar international consulting firm.

She is the hardest worker I have ever met, and she still has time for friends and family. They all love her as much as I do. Her smile will melt a glacier. Every time she scores a new contract (and she scored $4-mil in 2005, so far), she sends a check to our favorite charity back in Dallas, The Stewpot.

Dr.D and Nick-Nick T. are the best things in my life. All positive forces! God knows, I need that!

I don't know how I got so lucky with her. She's sweet, funny, has more backbone than her mother and has been a LIBERAL since I can remember. She has her blonde moments (her words, not mine) and since she's 5'8" and blonde, she's entitled.

I thank the powers that be every single day for her.

I'd like to think they grow up giving back what they receive. I know it's not always like that, but we can hope.

:hi: Enjoy that child. Even though you're told they grow up before your eyes, you'll turn around and she'll be in a cap and gown. all ready to take on the world.

48. I have a wonderful life
We live in a small town. Last Friday night, my car decided to die in the middle of an intersection. Ten different cars stopped to ask if there was anything they could do to help, did I have a cell phone, etcetera. One of our friends towed my car to the auto repair business in town; DH arrived to pick me up, and I felt like the richest woman in the world. We then went to our town's holiday treelighting, where I was the recipient of many hugs ;-).

For the most part, we're healthy, we both have work we love, we have each other, the felines, and many, many loving friends and family. I have my share of bad days, but I have to admit that I am so blessed. I hope that I can, in some small way, spread as much joy in the world as we've experienced.

The positives in my life include: Mr. Zookeeper and Zoochildren. I have to say that raising children has been challenging, but I like the fact that it has forced me to be a grown-up! I'm also thrilled to have the opportunity to make art and fool around learning new things in the process of renovating my house and doing woodworking.

My rescue is nothing but a smattering of the abused, the ne'er do wells of the canine world. I put them back together, I retrain them, I find them new homes. The baited, the blind, the beaten...

Because I live, so do they.

I'm also very active in my community for GLBT rights, and also working towards being able to volunteer for the local battered women's shelter.

Lastly, my genetics and my abilities have built a physical appearance that debunks every vegan myth out there, in regards to same.

I battle my own negativity and depression, BTW, so I want to say something kind but don't know how to do it without sounding like a total cheeseball. You definitely have my empathy and I know of which you speak.

Anyway, mine is that I have three very great kids, a husband who usually understands me (even if he disagrees with me about the proper indoor temp ;)), I am FINALLY getting my chance to work on a college degree since my parents couldn't afford to send me after high school, and I'm earning a (admittedly small) living as a freelance writer. Since I wanted to be a writer from the time I was in kindergarten, that's a very cool thing.

64. I have gained further enlightenment as to who and what I am.
No I do not have all the pieces but I have recently gained a few which I have sought after for 90% of my life. I am at peace with much of this although my life has much turmoil erupting around it. I no longer feel sad for those who bring this turmoil....this is their own lot, not mine. This is a very recent positive thing for me.

66. I have a roof over my head, food to eat and a cat
that loves me. This is more than a lot of people in this world have. :)

67. I love your little bunny!
I'm listening to "Fight the Power" (the old funk song) and your bunny is dancing perfectly in rhythm....:headbang:
