4. I was accused of plaigarism in high school
I was a sophomore and we had an assignment to write a poem. I turned it in, the teacher read it and some wiseass said "sounds like it's from a book".

Needless to say, I was hauled in for plaigarism. I stood my ground and told the teacher to produced the poem I copied. He could not, but I have never written again, which is a shame. I used to write poetry and short stories as a kid. Just can't do it.

I was really embarrassed, pissed off and just plain scared.

Instructor lost it and failed me. I had my numbered copy of the exam but the instructor said anyone could get a copy after the exam was over. The head of the department sided with the instructor.

14. my boss blindsided me during a review w/big boss
it was time for my yearly review, and the head of our division was sitting in because i was due for a big raise and step up on the project. Joe was my immediate supervisor and project manager.

we sit down and its cordial, we never had any problems between us prior to the review and my previous reviews had been fine. about 5 minutes in, Joe starts listing numerous problems with the project that are my fault. many of them were things i had nothing to do with and were assigned to others in the office, two of the items related to work i had done and passed along to joe for further actions that he had to handle and had neglected. basically, joe (the senior proj. manager) started blaming me for things he had messed up and things that were far beyond the scope of my job.

then he brought up an ongoing issue with payroll that he claimed i never dealt with, although he and i had both sat down with the payroll dept to discuss the issue and it was agreed that the problem wasn't on our end, but in the main office and the payroll software.

so my annual review descended into a face to face yelling match and we had to be seperated by our boss. i accused him of being a liar and an asskisser. i didn't get the raise and i left the company soon after.

i realized that Joe had a history of sabotaging subordinates as soon as they started to rise in the company after discussing it with some other people in the company and realized that with the "boys club" attitude of the company i had risen as far as i could.

30. Yes. When your last name is Smith you get all kinds of calls
for people looking for people (collection agencies!) because they think we're all related.

I ws told I defaulted on a house I didn't own, and they said "Well we're looking for a ____ Smith in (my city), so it has to be you."

I've been unlisted ever since.

32. yes, i was accused of something very bad about 6 years ago...
when i was staying in Nashua, NH (before I moved to CT) I met some people in a Maine gay chat room and started hanging out in Portland, Me. Apparently there was a guy in the Portland area also named jonny who was HIV poz and was having unprotected sex with guys and not revealing his HIV status. I noticed people started getting snarky with me and then I was confronted by one of my "friends". He proceeded to tell me what a sick fucker I was for purposefully infecting people with HIV. I was floored. I started asking around and I found out quite a few people had heard that I was hiv poz(which I am not) and that I was running around POrtland having all sorts of unsafe sex. anyways it finally got out that this "other" jonny was the one doing what I was being accused of. Even though i got THAT straigthened out with most people one of (who I thought)my better friends in the area, to this day, still believes that I was the poz jonny having unprotected sex and he won't speak to me.

42. I was accused of shooting a neighbors cat with a crossbow.
Never did figure that one out. I'm sitting at home one day when a cop comes to my door and starts accusing me of shooting my neighbors cat with a crossbow. I'd never spoken to the neighbor and I loved cats, so I had no idea where the accusation came from. He swore flat out that he WATCHED me do it, when I'd actually been inside my house on my computer all day.

It would have been my word against his if it weren't for one thing...I actually did own a small crossbow at the time. When the police asked me, I told them as much and pointed out that it was inside my garage on top of my freezer. The damned thing had a quarter of an inch of dust on it because it hadn't been touched in years, but they still considered that enough to arrest me.

They ended up dropping everything when they realized that the cat had been killed by an arrow from a full size crossbow, and mine only fired 8" bolts. They were pricks about it though, and said they'd be "watching me". Bunch of losers. My neighbor never did talk to me after that, and he told all of my other neighbors that I was a cat killer too. Luckily I had four cats at the time, so nobody believed him.

As for emotions, it was disbelief followed by seething rage.

43. Oh god, I have a ridiculous story about this.
I went to an EXTREMELY preppy, stuck-up high school. I was a little punk with black clothes and spikes and safety pins sticking out of all part of my clothing and person. Once during study hall I was practicing pitching in the gym (because I was also a jock, go figure). At the end of the period I went to put my glove back in the locker, and there was a gym class in there changing. Later on, one of the girls from the class told the principal that I stole her watch...which she assumed cause someone took it and I was in the locker room. I told the principal that number one, I didn't do it, and number two, why would I want that girl's watch, it's totally not my style(joke). (He believed me that I didn't take it from the first of it, though). I was pissed at the girl because she would say really loudly as I walked by, "That BITCH stole my STUFF" until a teacher told her to stop it. Other than that I was just like "What the hell, get a life".
