10. The first corner to the right of the door.
The age of the rocks looks newer in the part to the right after the bump-out in the image.

on the part of the wall at a right angle to the door.

we're used to different kinds of mailboxes. :hi:

18. Damn nice work.
If I saw the original, I probably could tell. But only because I know how it's done.

That's a helluva good job, and NOBODY would be able to guess from the jpeg.

23. Oh well, I gave it a shot
The corner looks real, but it also looks like an obvious choice spot for a splice; also, the grass below that corner looks kinda funny, so I thought that was it.

Oh, well!

31. OK, after looking at it in Photoshop:
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 10:10 AM by Redstone
1) The vertical edge of the stonework on the left side of the door is too straight (look at the stonework on the right side and you'll see that some of the stones protrude horizontally more than others).

2) Some of the notches in the shadow on the left side of the door are too pointy in shape (The actual mortar work is much shallower, as you can see from other parts of the building).

3) With the light coming from the top left, the door should not cast a shadow on the granite step below it.

4) The right side of the door is too straight (a door that old would have some warpage), and the radius on the top of the door is too perfect (I bet you made that with a clipping path, not the lasso tool).

5) There should be bolt heads on the right side of the door where the hinges are attached.

But I still say it's damn good work.

32. This is the real reason why I posted this contest
I'm amused at how people over-analyze photographs, I certainly do it myself at times. I posted a photograph of a 747 landing at that airport in the Carrribean (I've since forgotten the name, but you'd know it if you saw it) and countless posters told me what a great/shitty job I did of photoshopping it because the shadows/scale/focus/etc were either perfect or all completely wrong.

And I'm not singling you out :-)

I carefully worded the contest to suggest there were more than one photos used, when in actuality there were only two. I never messed with the door, there's only one seam, and I picked these photos because bricks are incredibly easy to clone.

33. Well, I'll be an egg-suckin' dog.
I could sworn that you put the door into an empty archway.

Though now that I think of it, the unnaturally straight-looking lines on the door and door opening could very well be JPEG artifacts.

Good work!
