I just wrote a 20 page paper in 15 hours...
well, it took me the better part of 22 hours. I slept for three, and did research for about 4 hours, before I ever started the paper. I had to compare and analyze health care system issues pertaining to the indigenous tribes of the U.S., Canada and Australia. I had over three months to do it, so naturally I waited until the night before to start working on it, lol. I have a curse. I happen to be pretty gifted at writing and analysis and it enables me to get away with stuff that most people couldn't. Unfortunately, because I know this, I put everything off until the last minute. I could have finished this damn thing with a little work here and there, all painless. Instead, I tortured myself for a day, am sleep deprived, wired on coffee and I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

That being said, I actually like my paper. I'll post it maybe next week when I finally wake up. (or tomorrow) :)

1. You and me both.
I have nine sketches I still have to do in my sketchbook, and they're due at 5pm tomorrow. I've only done six of them. I also have a paper due in a political science class Friday morning.

2. I'm not too bad off right now
I have three tests left for next week. One should be a piece of cake, it's open notes and the professor and his assistant are pretty laid back. Another one shouldn't be too bad. My last test would be pretty simple, except that I haven't attended one lecture on the material we are being tested on, lol. I plan to look over a few things and go take it. It's multiple choice, so I should be fine. :) I have written nearly 35 pages worth of material in only a few days though. That's a pretty solid clip.

Good luck!

3. Can you type my paper I'm working on?
I don't know the topic yet, and it's due Friday.

The topic can be on anything related to pre-Pleistocene glaciations...you can choose the topic. I won't mind.

:D :)

5. damn, I know nothing about that
I can bullshit my way through anything. Now, if you had to do something related to policy, minorities or some type of creative writing, then, I could help you. :)

9. You know...
I was going to buy the new Wrestlemania DVD set, but I decided to purchase the complete series of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" instead. :)

Wrestlemania will have to wait until next year. :(

14. I bank at Wells Fargo
and you can get as much as 300 bucks in credit for a direct deposit advance. I took out all three hundred so I could afford to get the Wrestlemania DVD set, lol. It still had me cutting my expenses a bit close. :) I was just obsessed with getting it though.

I've written software code in a weekend that some companies would charge weeks upon weeks of man-hours for.

7. yes, isn't
it weird how some people are like that. I actually kind of like just sitting down and busting out a bunch of work at once. I'm pretty good at it too. I probably wouldn't have written a paper that was any better if I did do it a little at a time. It's fun in a way. :)

10. Yeah
it's like making things more difficult for yourself just to make it a challenge. I've done multimedia presentations due Monday, with 6 weeks to work on them, delivering them after starting late one Saturday night, and a trip to dunkin donuts at 4 am to pickup a donut, coffee, and a can of Monster energy drink.

I have trouble focusing unless there's a tremendous amount of pressure

13. and my professors have told me
after I've dropped off the CD and limped back home with massive bags under my eyes

"Imagine what you could've done if you'd taken your time"

and I think to myself, "I can't take my time, I'm either off or on" there no middle-ground

18. I am the same way also.
If there's no pressure involved, I won't do it.

It's weird how that works.

Reminds me of a quote a DUer provided me last week, from Calvin and Hobbes:

"Creativity is not something you can turn on and off like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood."
"And what mood is that?"
"Last-minute panic."

12. I'm like that, as well
I work better under pressure, and it tends to cause me to procrastinate like mad. Which has its ups and downs. It does tend to focus my brain better, generally. My brain goes into this weird semi-overdrive when I take tests. It's like an adrenaline-concentration rush. Weird.

22. True...
And when I write in my journal (which I haven't in a long time), that was always by hand, as well. I guess it's mainly that I do so little writing by hand now that it is almost frustrating to have to do it during an exam, when I know I could write more eloquently if I could have a text editor handy! (besides and eraser!)

23. My dear Wetzelbill.....
I'd say you're crazy except for one thing.....I'm the same way!

Pretty much, anyhow...It has been just a few years since I had to write any papers, thank God...

But the few things that do have a deadline allow me to procrastinate...

And then I rush like mad....and feel so good when I've accomplished the deeds!

You do write very well, BTW.....

:hi:

26. Bill, you and me are made for each other ;)
I finished an 8 pager in a record time for me...drumroll please...1 hour and 45 minutes! Granted I had notes from a speech I gave on it already, but still.

I never write papers any sooner than 3 days before they're due. I consider it bad karma. :P

I'm all yours. Wait.... you already had me long ago. :)

Oh, I always think I'm going to write my papers. I make plans to start it, then decided to do it tomorrow, then tomorrow, then tomorrow. Next thing I know I am busting it out at the deadline. :)

An hour and 45 minutes is pretty damn fast for an 8 pager. Nicely done! :toast:

33. I KNOW you last minute folks get a total high by waiting until it's
almost too late and then BAM!!!!! RUSH RUSH RUSH IT'S DONE!!!! I have the BEST boss in the world (I've worked off and on for her for almost eight years) BUT she waits to do MAJOR projects until right before they're due and, unfortunately, I'm involved. I happen to be one of those types who get it done as soon as I can (when I was in college, I'd get papers done at the beginning of the semester that weren't due for months later). I like the leisurly, enjoyable pace. Anyhow, fortunately, my boss only has these projects a couple of times a year - all in December- so here we go!!

35. I always waited until the last minute because
I obsessively edit my own work. I hated when professors would make me hand in drafts because I work best when I can gather my info, make a basic outline, and then just write it so any changes I'd make would be little ones. I use to write papers early but then I'd just keep on going back and rewording a few sentences but make no important changes. Then I realized I'd actually save time by waiting to write it.

36. Procrastination is the adrenaline of many
Unfortunately I do not possess this. If I am not prepared well in advance I have panic attacks, then I end up re-writing and editing until I'm absolutely bonkers.

Well, this one's for you:
