I watched Cinderella Man last night
I enjoyed it, it was pretty fluffy and emotional at times. I think just like during the Great Depression, America needs a hero. At least us average people out there having to struggle through the era of The Chimp. It made me feel good to watch it. I have always been a fan of boxing, I used to fight in smokers when I was in my teens, I would spar to train for my sports too. I knew the story of James J. Braddock already. Still it was compelling to watch. Both Russell Crowe and Paul Giamatti are great actors. I didn't particularly like Renee Zelwegger in this, but she's always pretty good. Craig Bierko was awesome as Max Baer, I thought. Ron Howard is a great director, too.

Well, I may watch it again, just for fun, I think I'm going to cook up some taquitos and relax. :)

1. They filmed some of it down the street from here.
It was pretty damn cool seeing a bunch of 30's era cars parked along the street. I didn't see Mr. Crowe or Ms. Zelwegger though.

Gotta rent that.

2. it's a pretty solid film
I definitely recommend it.

I bet that was cool seeing all of those cars It amazes me, the budget it takes to do period pieces like that. Everything right down the socks has to be accurate.

3. I'm sure it's a great movie, but I won't ever see it...
I will have nothing to do with ANYTHING involving boxing. It ranks right up there with dogfighting, cockfighting, and bullfighting as things to be avoided at all costs, as far as I'm concerned. No boxer could ever, under any circumstances, be a hero, role model, or much of anything else except a moronic, murderous brute (in my humble opinion).

5. I watched it tonight too
I thought it was pretty good, I agree with you about Renee's performance, not much there besides early. I thought Paul Giamatti's performance was fantastic. That scene after Braddock wins that "one time" fight was masterful. I had to watch that scene again a few times afterwards. I hope he at least gets nominated for an Academy Award.

Peace

that was so heartwarming. I'd love to see Giamatti get nominated. He's a heckuva actor.
