The National Weather Service In Albany Has Issued A Heavy Snow Warning For The Southeast And Central Catskills... Mid Hudson Valley... Southern Taconics... Southern Berkshires And Litchfield Hills... Which Is In Effect From Midnight Tonight To 6 PM EST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch Is No Longer In Effect.

Low Pressure Developing In The Mid Mississippi Valley Early This Morning Will Race Eastward Through The Ohio Valley And Into The Eastern Great Lakes Late This Evening. A Coastal Low Will Then Develop Off The Mid Atlantic Coast Late Tonight And Move Quickly Northeast Passing South Of Block Island Around Mid Day Friday And Then Move Into The Gulf Of Maine Friday Evening. While The Storm Is A Fast Mover... It Will Bring Enough Moisture To The Area To Produce 5 To 12 Inches Of Snow With The Highest Totals Expected To Occur In The Southern Berkshires And Litchfield Hills. The Heaviest And Steadiest Snow Will Fall From The Morning Rush Hour Through Mid Day.

The National Weather Service In Albany Has Issued A Winter Storm Watch... Which Is In Effect From Late Thursday Night Through Friday Afternoon For Ulster... Greene... Columbia And Dutchess Counties In New York As Well As For Litchfield County Connecticut And Southern Berkshire County Massachusetts.

Snow Will Develop Across The Watch Area Late Thursday Night And Continue Until Mid Afternoon Friday. The Storm Has The Potential To Produce At Least 7 Inches Of Snow. It Is Still Uncertain Exactly How Much Snow Will Fall.

A Storm Will Intensify As It Moves Off The Mid Atlantic Coast Late Thursday Night And Friday. The Track And Intensity Of The Storm Will Determine Its Impact On The Region. A Strong Storm Tracking Fairly Close To The Coast Would Produce Heavy Snow. If The Storm Tracks Further To The South Only Light Snow Would Fall.

A Winter Storm Watch Means There Is A Potential For At Least 7 Inches Of Snow In 12 Hours. Snow Will Impact Travel So Keep Up With The Latest Forecasts.

You should see the guy I have lined up right now. He wants to take me out for drinks, dinner and dancing, to the theatre, to art galleries, horseback riding at midnight, star gazing, picnics this spring, etc.

just cold for here, did live up north so i know some folks get reeeal serious about their snow fall,

I can see both sides of the story. Some of the actions suck but I can understand the other side. (years of dispatching in law enforcement and having had an uncle who died while on duty). Most will do what they can to be able to go home at night and hug their children instead of having them see them lying in caskets.
When you are working in a job w/ that much pressure and not a ton of training you do the best you can. Sometimes it's not the right thing but it seemed like the best you could do at the time.

when even they are the least among us somehow, they are big decisions we entrust them with no doubt

In many cases, underpaid.
They are real people w/ real problems-bills overdue, problems w/ kids, usually problems in their marriage(high divorce rate in law enforcement d/t money and worries about the job).
I'm a hardcore lib but one side I tend to go w/ the conservatives on is societies treatment of law enforcement. Maybe it's because these are the guys(and some women) that I worked w/ for years and spent offtime w/ too. Most are actually liberal-they just don't know it. Most want more options for mental health, laxer drug laws, more social services. Only a select few act like the Bosco character from Third Watch and those tend to be the newbies. Most really go into the field wanting to make a difference in society and get dragged down w/ the day to day. In many cases they are no different than a social worker-just in danger alot more often.
