Playmobile....good or bad?
I am at my wits end as to what to get my little gal for Christmas....

I have doll house furniture I had a child that I loved, and thought to buy a doll house for it but it is really collector stuff and not sturdy enough to withstand daily play.

I have seen this playmobile doll house that I really like but have no clue as to how their stuff is constructed......the reviews on Amazon are good but is that stuff truly worth it????

I only buy for my kids at Christmas and birthdays....but I also don't like spending money on stuff they don't play with....

4. It's for kids around your child's age
The parts are very small so I wouldn't get it if you have a smaller child at home.

5. that is good to hear...
I was really intrigued by the stuff but I was afraid it was for toddlers ....
but she really likes small stuff to play with and she loves little houses and luckily she is the smallest one in the house...

7. Seconded. We have playmobile stuff here that was my
husband's when he was a kid. (It was sold in Europe long before it made it here) He's 57 and you have to look close to see the differences to today's stuff.

6. It's great stuff.
The bookstore I worked at for ~2 years sold loads of it, and never had a complaint. Did have alot of repeat buyers.

8. Yeah, Playmobile is good stuff.
It's pretty expensive, however, because it's imported from Holland or Germany or one of them other loser countries.

10. this might explain why it is hard to find...
cuz the run of the mill toy stores do not carry it....I never buy anything from Wal-mart but I looked at their web site and they don't carry it either...so it must be high quality...hahahaha

several Playmobile toys that lasted through 4 kids. Good quality toys.

13. I was reading other toy reviews on line and the chief complaint
about the poorly rated toys are their poor construction.

my daughter wanted Amazing Amanda but after reading the reviews of that toy I decided against it...

dollhouse for quite cheap.

I don't know if it would work with your furniture, but these are very well crafted toys. :hi:

15. the furniture I have is the collector stuff ....
my family bought it for me in stages because it was so expensive...but it is really only for looking at...which is a bummer but I am thinking about buying a wall mounted doll house to display the stuff...but that isn't fun to play with...If you have ever seen miniature furniture at a museum...that is the kinda stuff my family bought me..and my bro-in-law was an architect so he built me a doll house for it out of archtectural board....it lasted a long time...

my gal is 7 so the willow toys look a bit young for her...but it is very nice!!

17. My son is 7 and still plays with his stuff. He has the farm, and really
enjoys it. With stuff like that I would go with a craft store and perhaps put one together that would be fitting for it. Good luck! :hi:

18. for now I am overwhelmed so I may get her the playmobile
one and then...perhaps when I have time to build one of the doll houses...do it with her...I am so lazy and those fancy doll houses come in kits...you even have to apply the shingles one at a time...whoa...too much effort...hahahahah

:hi:

dollhouse. I guess I have an subconscious aversion to it. It's so expensive for what it is. Oooh, and I know what you mean about putting together stuff...I encourage others to do what I myself could never do. ;)

16. we have part of the western set and a BUNCH of the pirate stuff
they are MINE I tell you, MINE - I never let the kids play with them!!!!!

Just kidding - they are great - very sturdy, long lasting better than Fisher Price in my opinion, with the one caveat that they DO have a LOT of small parts.

20. High quality , educational figures
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 04:21 PM by Kellanved
The standard action figure for German children since the 70s, which might explain the airport screening set:

Then again, that set is not actually available in Germany.

25. I think it's a fine toy, but my parents wouldn't allow it in the house.
This was back in the late early 1980s. They disapproved of it because one of the figures was a riot policeman with a shield and a baton. They said it sanctioned state violence.

I can see their point. Maybe if they made a "rioter" with a brick, a molotov cocktail and a balaclava as well ...
