How are you doing on this last day of the work week? I hope you've had a good one and have plans for some fun this weekend! I have to work on Saturday, but I don't on Sunday, so I have at least one of them off. It has been raining like a "sumbitch" down here in Florida the past few days, but it is clearing out starting today so we should get our sun back! :woohoo:

It's Snowing!

I set up a new bird feeder, checked the heater in the birdbath and did a mega grocery shopping trip yesterday.
I'm all set to enjoy the show!

Watching the snow come down can be very pretty! How much are you supposed to get?

Heavy snow warning in effect until 4 PM est this afternoon.

Snow will continue over the Catskills...the Hudson Valley... Southern Vermont...western Massachusetts...and northwestern Connecticut. Visibility will frequently be less than a mile and roads are apt to be very slippery.
Snow...tapering off to flurries this afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times this morning. Total accumulation of 5 to 10 inches. Highs in the lower 30s. South winds 5 to 10 mph... Increasing to northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph this afternoon.

Good for you! I assume the thumbnail thing worked for you! Ok...the last thing you need to do to post it...right under the picture in photobucket, is a web address that is labelled "URL". All you have to do is copy that address and paste it into the body of your post. You should be able to just click anywhere in the URL and it will highlight for you, right click so you get the window that has "Copy" in it. Click "Copy", come back to DU, right click in the body of your post and click "Paste". You'll see the address. Click "Post Message" and TADA! There's your picture!

It's cold as Anne Coulter's tit and we've got a storm raging here. It started just before 2:30am and is due to go on until around 12 noon. So far roughly 2 inches has accumulated, though it would probably be more if the snow wasn't mixed with freezing rain.

Sounds yucky out there! Stay in if you can. It's not fit for man nor beast outside!

Now all I have to do is go home, which is in about 40 minutes. Of course the roads will be a mess and everyone on them will be kooky. The one thing about New England is people up there know how to drive in snow and ice. Down here if there's even a bad rain storm people start freaking out as if they've never encountered it before. Then you have those crazies in SUVs and large trucks who think they're invincible and come speeding along and zigzaging between everyone else and next thing you know there are accidents galore. Just last week on a four mile stretch of highway I saw three accidents.

I know about the idiots you speak of and they can cause havoc on the streets! They just go "bumping into each other like they are in the funny papers" as Hoke said on Driving Miss Daisy. :rofl: I wouldn't want you to get into one of those accidents, my dear!

On days like this I stick mostly to the right lane, and actually do the speed limit, if not under. I let the "I'm invincible" asshats go right past me and suffer the consequences, if any.


Rather amusing story from years past. My friend and I were driving in a very heavy New England snowstorm. We were in the left lane and another car was slightly ahead of us in the right. Some guy in a boat of a car came up behind us honking his horn, flipping the bird and ranting at us. Obviously we weren't moving out of his way fast enough. I said "screw him" to my friend and passed the car on my right at the same speed I would have otherwise, then moved over to the right lane. As Mr. Attitude sped past us he kept ranting and flipping us the bird.

A mile or so later as we passed by the next off-ramp, who was sitting on the grassy area between the off-ramp and on-ramp? You guessed it, Mr. Attitude! My friend rolled down her window and we laughed and flipped him the bird as I drove slowly by. :rofl:

Serves him right, the idiot! :rofl:

I drove up to Albany in a 2 foot snowstorm a few years ago.
The normal drive time was 45 minutes, this time it was over 2 hours.
Call me crazy but I actually enjoy driving in it.

my plans for the weekend are: being lazy, washing my clothes (I am running out of clean underwear :rofl: ), meeting with my friend to do some shopping or the movies or Christmasmarket. Oh and sleeping in :woohoo:

Ohhhh, party today at work, should be fun. But there's so many projects to finish the next two weeks, it's seems overwhelming.

Strong coffee seems to get rid of most of its effects - lot of fluids, lots of vitamin C and similar malarkeys. I utterly refuse to be ill - illness is for wimps.

Doing fine down here. You're right about the rain -- harleydad finally got to ride the motorcycle to work today. He's been driving the car all week, which costs more.

Still cleaning out closets and shredding papers here. We had a lot of fun going through the box of cards last night. We didn't shred them -- too precious! I have cards from when the kids were just learning to write. :loveya:
