In what decade were people the prettiest?

In what decade do you think people looked the best in general: the best styles, hair, make-up, etc.? If you could wake up in another decade seeking out a mate based solely on "the look", which one would it be?

Pretty and feminine yet could still look tomboyish rough and tumble. When I was in high school I used to buy clothes at thrift shops just to get the forties styles (I graduated in the early 90's). It was my favorite decade of dress unless you count flapper dresses from the 20's. I used the 20's for formals in school.

There's nothing wrong with pictures of cheerful grandmas & grandpas. But some of the pictures show the deceased when they were much younger. (We chose an early portrait of my mom when her time came.) Apparently photographers in the 30's & 40's were influenced by Hollywood glamour shots. Nicely swept back hair, just enough makeup & flattering lighting. The old guys are often shown as proud young men in uniform.

My "salad days'? Late 60's through the 70's. Curly hair down past my shoulders. No makeup. Wire rim glasses. Clothes from Goodwill--or jeans & t-shirts.

I'd go with the 30's or 40's for fashion. Of course, those decades had some problems in other areas.

But it's funny how whenever any of our older friends show us pictures from that time, EVERYONE looks GREAT.
