Well I'm fucked.
It's the end of the semester and my stress levels are in the danger zone.

I have a week to do the following:

-give a geology presentation (Tuesday)
-write two papers for my glacial geology class (due Monday)
-take a final for my piano class (Wednesday)
-write a paper for my tectonics class

Guess how many of those I've started. :eyes:

:scared: :( x( :argh: :nuke: :yoiks:

I also have a final mandatory lesson for piano on Tuesday, but I can't make it because my geology prof is being an asshole and won't let me switch days for my presentation (from Tuesday to Thursday).

My head feels like it's going to explode! I can't wait until I'm done with college! :argh: :nuke:

17. Breathe. Focus. Apply yourself. It can be done.
You'll probably have to prioritize, decide which of the assignments have the most flexible parameters, slack a little on the ones you can get away with slacking on, and you will be fine.

4. This works for me.
If you don't get some relief, you're going to do something you regret. This works for me.

I use this to reduce stress, to come back to center and to rejuvinate. Sit comfortably. See yourself in the middle of a perfectly formed, comfortably large circle. Give yourself whatever time for it to come into view. As you gently concentrate on its perimeter and the space inside it, it will fill with peace. You can increase this by asking that it increase and by continuing your focus and normally breathing in and out. After you've done this for, say, a minute or so, see the circle filling with gentle, flaming gold, moving through you and all around you. Relax and breathe that in and out for awhile. It operates with and is independent of your breath. Any movement you get is a sign that you're processing what you're holding. Duration helps build the image and benefits as does frequency. A minute or so is all you need to do at any one time to get great benefits unless you want to do more. After awhile, you can do this anywhere. Spend some time with golden flame and then begin to work with gentle, purple flame for a change. Then, mix or alternate the two.

15. C'mon, you can do it!
I also felt like that... I just realized how much time and money and effort I had extended to get me as far as I had gotten... It would have sucked to leave without that damn degree and in debt.

Only one more round of finals hell after you get done with this one and then you never have to take another class again!!!

11. No.
I haven't had a meal since about 24 hours ago...but it's entirely from the stress.

It's from the lack of funds. :(

Thank God my bro is sending me money.

Now, what I wouldn't give to be 21 again. For what it's worth, in 5 years, none of these classes will matter.

13. That sucks, most of us have been there too!
just* put them in order of when they're due and get to it! Yea, it sucks and is stressful, but at least once you start I'll bet you begin to feel a little better. That's how it was for me anyway, I'd stress about getting things done, but once I'd start the stress would be more manageable.

*easier said than done, I know :p

14. It's time to break it down to smaller pieces
Set aside a few hours for each project. Just get it done and turn it in at the end of that time. At this point, it's about getting the work done and not worrying about how good it is. Good luck. I always did the same thing to myself and left all my work to the end. You'll be happy when it's done. Good luck.

24. I've been there, and here's the deal:
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 01:30 PM by XemaSab
Today you're going to outline the three papers and the presentation.

I know outlines sometimes seem really basic, but they really help for writing boring and tedious papers. On each outline specify "I'm going to spend a paragraph talking about this, and half a page on this." Etc.

When you're finished with that, go play the piano or see a movie or have a nice meal or do something fun.

Each of the next four days you're going to write one of the papers.

Enjoy! :hi:

26. Even if it's a half-assed job
get it over with.

Finish school.

Become a petroleum geologist and sell your soul for 120 K a year.

Laugh at all the people who teased you in elementary school.

Show up at your HS reunion with Miss November on one arm and Miss March on the other.

Etc.

I don't like petrology anymore (thanks to my prof in my Tectonics course...and I'm more of a glacial geologist anyways).

Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 02:17 PM by Kali
but if you are almost half way through your senior year, you have developed some strategies. Quit the drinking till the work is done - less than one week. Get to it.

edit to change junior to senior - who has AD problems?
