LMAO, my cats are freakin geniuses.
I always close the blinds when I go to bed, this morning I was awakened by the sound of the blinds in the bedroom opening. This wouldn't be odd, except for the fact that I live alone.

So, I look over at the window, and Quinn is perched on the window ledge. I laugh it off, and think he must have just been goofing around, and accidentally did it because I kind of heard him thump after it opened, as if he'd been playing with the cord and fell, then jumped back on the ledge.

So, I close the shade and go into my den to work on the computer.

Just now, I heard the blinds going up again, and this time, Althea is perched on the ledge, and Quinn is nowhere to be found.

My freakin' cats now know how to open the blinds! AHHHHHHHHHHH SAve me from my critters.

3. Hmm... I hadn't considered that angle.
I bet most of the posters in the Lounge are domestic pets.

It fits!

Especially the day crowd!

Eeeeek!

17. Funny
My kitties cannot open the blinds all at once...they paw at them, thus a signal they want them open...but this is a funny story.

7. Mine learned to open the drawer where the Kleenex is.
She loves to shred and eat Kleenex. In a pinch, she'll eat toilet paper, but she prefers kleenex.

We had to hid all the kleenex boxes around the house and put them in cupboards or drawers, thinking she oculdnt get to them.

WRONG!

First she learned to open the cupboard. Well, we thought that wasn't so surprising since cupboards are easy to open.

Then, she learned to open the drawer.

No kleenex is safe in this house. And, since I have allergies, I have kleenex stashed somewhere in almost every room.

8. last night
my partner complained that the printer wasn't working right - lines, and blanks etc. on the paper

It's been awhile since the printer has been used so I figured the cartriges were just gummed up. I told her to run the printhead cleaner.

she asked how and before I could show her....

our 6 month old kitten hopped up on the printer and hit a button...

yeah - a 6 month old kitten know how to run the printhead cleaner... AND PRINT OUT A TEST PAGE afterwards

:scared:

10. Cats ARE geniuses.
Believe it. The Wiley And Excellent Boycat Named Ginger has been plotting his revenge for more than a month against our neighbor's annoying boycat, but Ginger is forbidden to fight. On Thursday night, we let him out to pee, and when he didn't return right away, we knew trouble was afoot. When Ginger came home, an hour later, his belly was covered with blood and little chunks of fur were falling off.

So, after a few hours, we panicked and rushed him to the emergency vet hospital, only to be informed that the blood on Ginger's belly was from his opponent, whom we haven't seen now for three days. It cost us $100, but Ginger proved his point.

11. I was attempting to train my Chihuahua to "sit" using treats
Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 12:37 PM by Evergreen Emerald
My cat was watching from the couch. After many attempts to get him to sit, push down his bottom, give him a treat, and praise him, the dog was still not getting it.

Finally, the cat walked over and stood by the dog. When I said sit, she sat (to my surprise.) I gave her a treat and praised her. She did it several times. It was as if she were saying, "ohforgod's sake you stupid dog, this is what she wants!"

15. I once had a cat who could open doors
She'd get up on her hind legs and manipulate the doorknob with both paws until it opened. Really freaky when you're in the house alone.

16. When you have more than one, it's cool to watch the group intelligence
increase by leaps and bounds. For each of the seven cats, I can name at least one behavior they picked up from one of the other cats. It's very weird in a very wonderful way. :)

18. I love it!
Mine does the same thing. He also knows that pushing the handle on the slider door opens it. He just isn't strong enough to do it. He tries to turn on the kitchen faucet for water, even when his bowl is full. Somehow, running water is more appealing.

29. Miine works at the door, much to her frustration
she gets up on the corner of the bed, right next to the door handle, sits up, and works the handle. If I taped the handle or otherwise provided her some purchase, I know she could open it.

It drives her crazy, and she'll work at it for hours.

19. Okay, I figured out HOW they're doing it :)
You know how on mini blinds, there are two strings, one controls each side of the blind? Well, those two strings were tied together, and they were sticking a paw in between the two and jumping off the window ledge :P

They haven't been able to successfully open the blinds since I separate the two strings :)

27. We could do worse
than having kittys running the world.

I had one smart cat once that could open the screen door. He would bounce it with his paw until it bounced open far enough for him to slip through. Unfortunately he had a reeeally dumb partner who sat and watched him and said, "Duh, how did you do that."
