3. You have a real good eye for mechanical actuation.
The hydraulic pistons and the screw heads denoting pivot points all make sense if this were a photo of an actual funtoning robotic crab. The coloring adds whimsey and a sence of approachibility to what otherwise might be a frightening creation. The highlights do not interfere at all, they look right.

You are zeroed in on this, and doing a hell of a job! :toast:

5. Exactly what he said.
And add to it, very cool. And scary as hell.

I would love to be able to draw. I mean, be able to see. Then draw. I love watching. It's good enough for now.

6. "I mean, be able to see. Then draw." Exactly!!
I can not do that! And once you can, how do you know where to stop? I'm a CAD drafter, I make technical drawings for a living, but I can not make art. Illustrators have a special gift. It's a talent I envy.

8. I am just watching.

I think it's a complex combination of things that keep us from being able to see.

I'm watching those, mostly youngsters, who are able to be creative. I'm hoping that I can recover, or rather uncover, my creativity. But then, frustration can be a source of creative actions. It seems to me that the kids who are making art, see it first, then draw it. It's probably always that way.

I know one thing- I totally appreciate art. And humor. I am a creative person. But have lost it. Maybe age, maybe rage over politics, have blinded me.

I don't know. I could go on and on about it. When I suppose the only thing to do is to grab a pen and start drawing.

edit- I'm also a CAD drawer. I was an engineer. That stuff is so mechanical. And useful. I'm at a crossroad in my life. I want to be an artist. We'll see.

9. I'd be interested to know where you're going
with this being.

The pastel colors seem a little incongruous for a biomechanical crab. :-)

10. Yeah - all the biomechanical crabs I know are day-glo
:D

I'd be interested to know where I'm going as well. I have realized that I have discovered a new technique that suits me - that's, in the end, the point of these pieces.

I think it's awesome, man. The colors are just on. it's a bio-crab, certainly, but it's approachable and probably pretty cool to hang out with.

14. My first thought as to what it is were quite different from a "robo-crab"
if this were a raushack (sp?) test- it looks like someone on their knees with a little person crawling up their butt, with the feet sticking out...

But now that I know what it is it's very, very cool!

16. Dick Cheney's pacemaker???????
How the hell did you get the pre-production concept drawing?

Seriously, that thing looks ready to to move. If I ever throw my mind back around a long forgotten anime concept I know who to get to do the bio-mechanoids.

22. I'd keep the hydraulic lines tucked in closer to the legs,
this way it gives me the impression that it could be easily disabled with a big enough knife - or you could run through a hardware store and watch it get tangled up in the rakes.
Cool, but prone to disaster on a mechanical level

25. Those hydraulic lines are clearly made from flexible adamantium so there's
no reason to worry about them.
