3. I say "Heat Miser"...
because it's a great song from Massive Attack's "Protection" album.

Other than that, I have no idea what you're asking.

Mother nature was the best, but I think I will take heat miser for $200, Alex. You see more epidermis that way.

17. One of my faves of all time...
Immediately what I thought of too. Can't count the number of drunken Portland nights I had watching that band.

Mic City Sons still makes me want to simultaneously rock out and cry to this very day.

24. Yeah, Neil is a very underappreciated songwriter
He's out of the music game now, living in NYC and doing graphic design. I think he's done struggling to get out of the shadow of Elliott.

See You Later and the last unnamed track always just stop me dead in my tracks. They all knew that the band wouldn't last beyond that record, even though it was their first release for Caroline (Virgin), so it was Elliott's bittersweet goodbye to that period.

By the time their tour for that record ended, Tony Lash had quit the band because he was tired of Elliott's drugged out bullshit. When I saw their last show of that tour, and actually ever, John Moen, who is now the drummer in The Decemberists had taken Tony's place.

It was a really strange and sad time for me as a music fan. I had a lot invested emotionally into the Portland music scene at that time, and I thought that it was really heartbreaking to see Elliott's drug problems break up that band. I was especially sad for Neil, because he was effectively left behind when Elliott could no longer deal with being in a band. I liked the post-Heatmiser stuff he did, but he just couldn't get out of Elliott's shadow, and with all of the drama that Elliott had surrounding him all of the time became just a footnote in Elliott's career.

See, you got me all wound up.....

25. Good story.
I must have seen you around somewhere t'th'other.

I haven't been a big go-outer ever, but did see Calamity Jane, Hazel, and some hundred or other locals back when I first got to town. I got a copy of "Mic City Sons" in the mail when I was doing my own zine and writing for an awful local music shitrag (thankfully now defunct) called Paperback Jukebox.

31. Hah!
Okay, man, this is starting to freak me out. I didn't realize you are in pdx - there's a very good chance we've seen each other about. I used to do photography for Paperback Jukebox in the 93-95 era. I shot Pond, Svelte, Sweaty Nipples, Hitting Birth, Green Day, King Missile and countless others I can't remember right now.

And, yeah, it was a really shitty paper, but somehow I'm actually nostalgic for it, or maybe just a time when people cared so much about local music that there was an entire paper devoted to gossiping about it.

The world seems pretty damn small sometimes, eh?

30. Well, since this is about misers
I'd rather have someone who's miserly with snow rather than miserly with heat. So I'll take Snow-Miser. :)
