I need repuke Birthday gift ideas, please...
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 11:59 AM by RevCheesehead
Today is my repuke SIL's birthday. She's 40-something. I need gift ideas, preferably something I can send on-line.

Oh, and FYI: Last year for my birthday, she gave me a gift subscription to the Rush Limbaugh newsletter. (I of course cancelled it, and asked that the money be sent to Katrina relief. It didn't - it went back to her.)

5. That would either be tit for tat, or an escallation in the B'day wars.
Something mildly snarky might be better.

Turn about is fair play after all!
Or whatever issue really pisses her off - make the donation to whatever organization in that field in her name.

On edit: sorry didn't read post # 5. Um: a gift card to a completely blue company, like Barnes and Noble???

Progressive Patriots fund?

What else...Well you could donate to Katrina relief in her name too.

Or, skip politics and just get her a new book. Amy Tan has a new one that's supposed to be good. I'll try to think of some more non-political titles.

OH it won't get there in time, but if you get mail from Russ you might get the letter that has an offer that could be entertaining. For a $50 donation you'll get a dvd of all his political ads from his campaigns. ("I know wisconsin like the back of my hand" still cracks me up.) Of course, that could make them hate Russ and we don't want that.

Here are some books that look interesting:

Constant Princess--Philippa Gregory--historical novel about Henry VIII's first wife
U. S. Presidents Factbook--Elizabeth Jewell--it is what it is
The Scorpion's Gate--Richard A. Clarke--(ok so this one's political. But it's "fiction")
Team of Rivals--Doris Kearns Goodwin--Book about Lincoln and advisors who disagree with him

Or tube socks. There're always tube socks.

you could find a polluted water source nearby--sewage effluent or the drainage from a fertilizer factory would be primo. Maybe you could find a pond near a factory pig farm or dairy farm.

seal a supply of the water in a jar, label it "Republican Drinking Water" and send it to her.

Or send her a copy of Joel Bakan's book _The Corporation_.

28. Buy a Rush Limbaugh book, but
soak it urine for a day first. :-)

She might like one of the "redneck comedy tour" (whatever it's called) CDs.

Or make her some cookies.

Or a bottle of bubble bath.

Or blow-up one of the Abu Ghraib photos and frame it and write "Your Conservative Compassion Tax Dollars in Action, In the Name Of Christ, Prince of Peace, Blessed Be The Name of Bush"

We "planted a forest" for our daughter one year. She was being particularly self-centered and didn't need anything, so we thought this would be appropriate. She actually loved it! And they sent her a nice card and tree ornament as a thank-you gift.

If repugs are going to whine about the "war on Christmas", what better way to show them that you really do understand the real meaning of Christmas. I guarantee she won't have the nerve to complain about that gift. :)

37. So far I there have been some wonderful ideas about donating...
$$ to a worthwhile charity on her behalf. I would urge this. Not only does it show that you are above her pettiness but it goes to someone more needy and deserving than her.

For my snark suggestion, (I don't really recommend it though), go with DVD which I have ranted about lately: www.beyondtreason.com This details three potentially devastating areas of something known as Gulf War Syndrome. (Areas our government does NOT want us focusing on, it is free to all vets btw)
