I just saw Shaun of the Dead last night!
Been wanting to see it for awhile. Hilarious!

What a great movie! I love British humor (humour), the characters were incredible, the plot was great, but one thing bothered me: why are zombies always stalking people?

I mean look at Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead...stalking. Always stalking. Kind of frightening, really.

And they're always in search of brains. Is it because they have none of their own now since they're dead? I'm curious how that works.

Anybody else love this movie?
:D

2. You'll never know until you, yourself, try eating some brains...
Once you have, you'll walk over your mother to get more.

Perfect blend of satire and horror.

*Spoiler*

My favorite part was at the end when they had Zombies competing in gladiator events for meat. I laughed my ass off at the sight of a zombie tied to a bungee, climbing toward the meat, with the commentator saying "OH! He just .....can't .....quite make it!"

edit: spelling

5. I normally despise zombies, but I sure loved this movie!
"Shaun of the Dead" was great. Agree with you on everything about it...humor, great characters, good plot. I loved it!

You're right, though. It seems like zombies are always stalking people in these movies. "Night of the Living Dead" is a perfect example. I mean, those damn zombies just wouldn't give up. Constantly stalking those poor people. But maybe you're right...zombies are just looking for brains. Because, well, obviously zombies don't have brains of their own.

Where they don't stalk people, but just move around aimlessly and rot...and society has to learn how to deal with the "rotting zombie problem."

14. I love SOTD.
A great parody of undead films, especially since the zombie genre is tiresome. It's the same thing every flick: lumbering, aggressive and stupid monsters feast on the unwilling. Luckily SOTD takes the piss out of that whole genre.

It was so much more than I thought it would be. I thought it would be just garden variety parody, but it is good film-making in its own right.

20. Why they eat brains
One of the "...Living Dead" movies stated that it was because being dead is very painful and eating brains was the only relief.

I just don't get how these daft, slow, lumbering strengthless zombiefolk can chomp through a skull, but they get knocked down by the slightest push or punch.

One of my favorites. I even bought the DVD :P

We take Pete's car, we drive over to mum's, we go in, take care of Phillip - "I'm so sorry Phillip". - then we grab mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

24. Yup, love it. -- Do you know "Spaced"?
It's a sitcom of sorts, written by & starring Simon Pegg (Shaun) & Jessica Stevenson (forget her screen name, but she's in the "other group") and also featuring Nick Frost (Ed).

The humour's (obviously) very similar and film references abound. There was 2 series (14 eps) with fans like me crying out for a third.

Also, I haven't seen it yet, but Pegg & Frost have a brief cameo in "Land of the Dead".

25. A "rom-zom-com". My favorite scene: when Shaun and his buddy are
planning their rescue of Shaun's mum.

*************spoiler************************

All plans involve bludgeoning the stepdad with cricket bats, whom they believe to be "zombified" already. And the various scenarios evolve from happily drinking tea at the end, to the inevitable taking refuge at the neighborhood pub.

28. Pegg & Wright have got the green light for "Hot Fuzz"!!
Get ready for a dose of Hot Fuzz. Yes, at long, long, long last Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg?s British cop movie ? their eagerly-awaited successor to Shaun Of The Dead - has been given the green light by Working Title.

(...)

We got the green light yesterday,? said Pegg. ?It sounds as if it?s going to be March, which is exciting.?

The movie, which will star Pegg and Shaun cohort/real-life best mate, Nick Frost as two mismatched cops who team up in a West Country backwater, has been mooted for over a year now, with the delay in official news causing some people to fear that it would ever get made. However, just to put to bed the pernicious rumour (in no way started by us) that Pegg and Wright may have been slacking in any way, Pegg revealed the real reason for the delay.

?We?ve actually been writing it for most of the year!? laughed Pegg. ?We?ve been working so hard on it. It?s such a complex script. I think the first draft was 235 pages long because we thought ?oh fuck it, let?s just go for it, let?s just vomit it onto the page and see what happens?. And we?ve shaved off a hundred-odd pages, but it?s one of those things where if you remove one thing, there?s a pay-off later on that needs to be addressed.

(...)
