Any of you folks remember when dishwashing liquid, e.g., "Joy "
(tm)came in metal containers? I distinctly remember these from my childhood. Plastic bottles came latter and clear plastic long after that. Help me out

1. I wish plastic containers would go away completely!
Remember when peanut butter, syrup, jelly and everything else was in glass containers? Soda in glass bottles is SO much better. *sigh*

3. Ever try to clean up after a display of shampoo in glass bottles
fell or a stack of milk crates with one gallon glass bottles in them tipped over? I did in my youth. Plus, glass containers caused many emergency room visits.

2. Wow, how old ARE you?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

I don't remember that, but I do remember the milkman leaving a gallon of milk in a glass container in the milkbox.

4. Fifty-eight. My memories of Joy in tin containers are from very
early childhood. All those delivery people, we had a milkman, a bread man, a juice man plus the dry cleaner all coming to the house and nobody's Mom worked.

6. I am forty eight
and in my childhood nobody's mom worked, and hardly anybody's parents got divorced.

No breadman or juiceman, but there was a man who came around the neighborhood to sharpen knives and scissors.

Ah, the fifties...

5. I don't remember tin, but, I do remember glass...
I had a glass one until very recently...

Many of the usual household cleaning items were packaged in glass.

Bleach.
Syrup.
Dishsoap.
Sodapop.

Also, I remember when Colgate Tooth*powder* came in a metal container.

My teeth haven't felt clean since they stopped making that.

8. Yeah, but, it wasn't the "Colgate" brand...
"Pepsodent"(?)... It wasn't nearly as good.

Colgate stopped making theirs sometime in the '80s.

10. Then there was Dr. Lyons' Tooth Powder
Also came in a classy oval metal container with a small picture of a rather strange-looking person. The damned cans are now sold on eBay as valuable collectibles--I could retire on the number that we threw away over the years! :banghead:
