How do you change your computer settings so that the mouse won't automatically assume you want to click when the cursor stands still? I'm hacovered.oying moments when the text gets fucked up because it assumes I want to be typing in areas that have already been ving ann

See the previous sentence for the kind of stuff this causes.

1. not sure i understand
but it sounds kinda like the click-lock function.

Start button ---> control panel ---> Mouse ---> buttons tab

(at least under XP)

3. Snap to wasn't on. I recently got a MS mouse and its software...
over-rode the Dell Touchpad software. This made it so that the computer wouldn't let me do the settings for the touchpad. See this guys problem http://discuss.fogcreek.com/joelonsoftware5/default.asp?cmd=show&ixPost=156434 When hitting space I've been accidentally tapping the touchpad and that would act like a click. I got synaptics driver and at least have been able to disable the touch pad. Tomorrow I'm going to go to my office and get my dell cd so I can re-install their touchpad stuff and have both a nice separate mouse and have my touchpad working the way I like.
