Can I ask you whippersnappers about "System of a Down"?
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 11:02 AM by underpants
I ran across a concert of theirs in the wee hours of the morning this morning (baby duty) on the MTV.

I saw several songs (from memory)
Sugar
Toxicity
This **** makes me feel like I am in the song (clever)
Lonely Day

Maybe one more-forgot the name.

Okay here is what I need to know.

Are they all supposed to be playing different songs?

Are they aware of the guy on stage with them screeching into the microphone? Is this therapy for what must have been daily horrible beatings at the hands of the non freakish?
Do any of them think it is strange that he is clearly 15 years older than anyone else in the band or in the crowd?

I am assuming that this whole thing is under the creative thumb of the 3 foot guitarist so I ask-was he allowed outside much as a kid? Was he allowed near a radio?

The bass players chin hair thing if very striking-is there any other reason to remember this band?

Am I missing something here?

Are the very energetic fans that I saw aware that they were being filmed at this event?

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

1. Well, I like them for their political outlook.
That song of theirs that asks:

"Why'd the President start a war?
Why do they always send the poor?"

Good enough for me.

2. Well the same can be said for Joan Baez
but that doesn't mean I am going out and buying an album or anything silly like that.

3. They are popular because they are different.
They broke out of the post grunge rock movement and established themselves as a mixture of American metalcore and punk. As far as why they are so popular, I think it is a mixture of talent, message (stand up to the establishment), luck and charisma.
