Poll question: The Final Showdown: Who will rule the Universe?

Xanadu?

Moulin Rouge?

And Why?

My choice:

Xanadu (pros)
ELO and The Tubes are on the soundtrack.
Gene Kelly is in it.
There wasn't a sequel.
No nudity.

Xanadu (cons)
ELO and The Tubes are on the soundtrack.
Olivia Newton John is in it.
Merchandising tie-ins were laughable.

Moulin Rouge (pros)
Um, well, there must be some... but I can't think of any.
Oh, wait...absinthe!

Moulin Rouge (cons)
Ewen McGregor singing.
Made Elton John and Courtney Love even richer.
No nudity.
Set design triggered some kind of epilepsy I never knew I had.
Was a less-than-faithful depiction of the art scene of the time.

So, by default, I'm going with Xanadu.

1. I'd rather watch Xanadu dubbed into, and out of Chinese

and German, then retranslated into English, with the vocal track performed by people in the midst of dental surgery than sit through even five minutes of Moulin Rouge. I managed a half hour of Moulin Rouge once (Same with Chicago) and that was ENOUGH for one lifetime.
