8. I've been glued to a toilet all week
It's been leaking from the hose at the bottom, so we called the plumber. The plumber came and "fixed" the leak, but after he left, there were *new* problems. First, water was gushing into the bowl. I opened the tank and the chain was twisted around the bar. I fixed that, but there was still a small leak. I decided that the rubber valve at the bottom of the tank wasn't centered, so I reached in and manually centered it. This fixed the little leak.

So today I noticed that there was still a leaking noise coming from the john. I opened the tank, expecting to have to re-center the rubber valve again, but this time the dripping was coming from the top of the standpipe-thingy. I reached in and yanked up the float bladder and the dripping stopped. I think what happened here is that the plumber lowered the level of the overflow pipe, and now the float bladder doesn't float high enough to cut off the flow of water into the tank.

Damn toilet. :grr:
